HOW TO ACHIEVE ‘NO-MAKEUP’ MAKEUP LOOK

HOW TO ACHIEVE ‘NO-MAKEUP’ MAKEUP LOOK

As the old saying goes, less is more. While we love playing around with the latest makeup trends, we’re all about an effortless everyday look - a natural makeup look that highlights your best features and gives skin a healthy glow. This is commonly known as the ‘no-makeup’ makeup look, and works best when you’ve got a great skincare routine to begin with. Think dewy, hydrated, expensive looking skin, complemented with cream blushes, no powders, natural fluffy brows, curled lashes with a light flash of mascara, and a bee stung lip.To help you master the no-makeup look and build an easy, foolproof beauty routine, we’ve teamed up with Sydney Makeup Artist’s Nicola Johnson - an expert in ‘barely there’ makeup - to come up with our best tips on achieving ‘no-makeup’ makeup.STEP 1: CLEANSE YOUR SKIN FOR A SMOOTH BASEFor that effortless ‘I woke up like this’, no-makeup look, you need a smooth, healthy base to work with - so start with skincare products that will cleanse, hydrate and brighten.“Clean hydrated skin is the first step to creating the ‘no-makeup’ makeup look,” says Nicola. “I love Cleansing Oils for this purpose. Take the opportunity to really massage the skin with the oil - this will stimulate the circulation and deliver oxygen rich blood to the skin cells leaving the skin looking plump & alive”.After cleansing, try an essence such as the Jurlique Purely White Skin Brightening Essence – packed with powerful botanicals, this lotion is great for reducing the appearance of skin discolouration.Nicola’s go-to Cleaning Oil: Nourishing Cleansing Oil STEP 2: PRIME YOUR SKIN FOR A FLAWLESS LOOKNext, smooth, soften and tone your skin to create the perfect canvas for your ‘no-makeup’ makeup. “Facial mists are wonderful on the skin,” says Nicola. “They’re perfect for prepping & hydrating ready for makeup, they deliver and extra layer of hydration & can also be used after the makeup to refresh. For extra radiance and a reduction in appearance of fine lines, a serum like the Herbal Recovery Signature Serum, followed by a lightweight moisturiser like the Moisture Replenishing Day Cream, will help you achieve a flawless looking finish.Next, use a primer to smooth your skin’s surface and ensure your makeup lasts longer. Choose a dewy primer for that fresh, natural look and wait a few minutes for your moisturiser to absorb before applying (for the best results, warm the primer between your fingertips first).Nicola’s go-to facial mist: Jurlique Lavender Hydrating Mist STEP 3: CHOOSE LIGHTWEIGHT MAKEUP COVERAGE FOR DEWY SKINNow your skin is ready for makeup, a super light hand is needed for this ‘off duty model’ look. Opt for tinted moisturisers, BB and CC creams over heavy foundations – you want your natural skin to show through. You can always mix a drop of your everyday foundation with your day cream to create your own tinted moisturiser.Freckles, beauty spots, and imperfections are to be celebrated. Apply with your fingertips and then soften any edges with a damp beauty blender or sponge. This look is all about dewy, hydrated skin, or ‘expensive skin’ as Nicola calls it.“I love to mix a drop of my favourite Jurlique facial oil with the moisturiser to give the skin some extra glow,” she says. “Spend a minute massaging this into your skin and neck for the deepest level of hydration - foundation always sits better if the skin has had some extra love first.”Nicola’s go-to facial oils: Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil & Jurlique Moisture Replenishing Day Cream STEP 4: GROOM YOUR BROWSFrom the early 2000s pencil-thin brow to Cara Delevingne’s era-defining oversized look, we’ve seen our fair share of eyebrow trends over the decades. For a natural, timeless look, keep your brows groomed, see a professional a few times a year, and avoid overplucking.“Brush up your brows - the fluffier the better.” says Nicola. “I love to set with brow gels. If you feel like your brows need some extra definition or are super fair then try a tinted brow gel – this is much softer approach than a brow pencil, and much quicker too!”When it comes to your eyes, skip the eyeliner and keep it simple. Curl lashes and apply a whisper of mascara. For blondes, Nicola recommends opting for a dark brown over black mascara for a more natural feel. Apply a small amount of highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes to brighten them up. STEP 5: WARM UP YOUR COMPLEXIONAs an extra boost, a small amount of blush, eyeshadow or bronzer will do wonders. “Cream blush and cream eye shadows are essential as they melt into the skin, leaving no traceable edges,” says Nicola. “Once again, fingertips make excellent tools as the heat for your hands helps soften the product over the skin.”For ‘just bitten’ lips, Nicola recommends using a tinted lip balm or your favourite lipstick by lightly pressing the colour on with your finger for a sheer wash of colour - the Jurlique Lip Care Balm is great for healthy-looking lips. For the finishing touches, set your makeup with a hydrating mist. Go for cult classic the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist to give your skin the ultimate glow, and pop a bottle in your bag to freshen up throughout the day. NATURAL PRODUCTS FOR NATURAL BEAUTYIn short, ‘no-makeup’ makeup is all about enhancing what you already have, using a carefully-selected range of products that will lead to a flawless looking complexion (after all, we all need a little help now and then). Give your skin a glowing head-start by adding hydrating products to your routine. Shop our range of essences, serums and moisturisers for the best natural skincare products to achieve flawless looking skin.

YOUR STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO THE JURLIQUE SKIN CARE RITUAL

YOUR STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO THE JURLIQUE SKIN CARE RITUAL

At Jurlique, we pride ourselves on our six-step skin care ritual. While it may seem excessive – especially compared to the traditional three-step cleanse, tone and moisturise routines – each step is beneficial for the skin. And for us, it’s not just a ‘routine’, we call it a ritual for a reason. It’s our form of self-care, a time to slow down, focus on ourselves and our wellbeing and look after our entire selves: mind, body and soul. Discover our guide to the Jurlique skin care ritual below.CLEANSELike every good skin care routine, cleansing is the first step of the Jurlique ritual. Cleanse twice daily and embrace the double-cleanse in the evenings for a deeper clean (the first cleanse removes dirt, debris and makeup, while the second cleanse unclogs the pores). Choose a natural-based face cleanser like our Nourishing Cleansing Oil or discover all our cleansers here. MISTWe do things differently at Jurlique. We don’t have a traditional ‘toner’ but we have Mists instead (our Rosewater Balancing Mist is kind of a big deal). Packed with natural botanical extracts, our Mists provide instant hydration, helping skin to feel soothed and balanced. After cleansing, close your eyes and spritz your mist around your face. Gently press into your skin to help the ingredients absorb. ACTIVATING WATER ESSENCEActivating Water Essence hydrates and preps the skin to help it absorb the rest of your skin care products. It also contains emollients and high-performing botanical extracts to attract and hold water for a smoother, softer and healthier-looking complexion. To apply, pour a couple of drops into your palms and press gently onto the face, neck and décolletage. Want to know more? Discover 5 reasons to use Activating Water Essence. SERUMFace serums are lightweight (but potent) formulas designed to provide your skin with extra hydration as well as target specific skin care concerns (read our guide to choosing a serum that addresses what you need best). With serums, a little goes a long way - gently press 1-2 pumps of the formula over your face, neck and décolletage and leave to sink in before you move on to the next step. EYE CAREThe skin around the eyes is delicate and prone to dryness. It’s also one of the first areas to show signs of ageing, so a nourishing eye cream or gel is important (for those first signs of ageing, Herbal Recovery Signature Eye Cream is our best eye cream for wrinkles and dark circles). Eye creams are formulated for different skin care concerns, so choose one that suits your needs most and gently press and smooth the cream around your eye contour area using your ring fingers. MOISTURISERRich and creamy, moisturisers seal in hydration, improve the skin’s protective barrier, and lock in the benefits of the products you’ve used before it. Like other skin care products, moisturisers target different skin care concerns and can be used at different times. A richer formula is great for your nighttime ritual, while lightweight moisturisers tend to work well for day and in hotter climates. The final step of all good skin care rituals is a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Sun has damaging effects on the skin so it’s essential to use it every day, even in winter or when it’s overcast. At Jurlique, we’re yet to find a sunscreen formula that we’re happy with so while we wait, choose your favourite to end your skin care ritual with.

5 WAYS TO SWITCH YOUR SERUM INTO POWER MODE

5 WAYS TO SWITCH YOUR SERUM INTO POWER MODE

When it comes to high-performing skincare, a serum is your MVP. A concentrated blend of active ingredients designed to create change on your skin, adding a serum into your skincare routine is a really effective way to reach a multitude of skin goals. Here are five ways to get the most out of your serum: 1. BUT FIRST, CLEANSEWe shouldn’t have to say it but we will: don’t even think about applying your serum to your skin unless it’s freshly cleansed. Give the concentrated actives in your serum the best possible chance to deep dive into the layers of the skin, without first having to wade through any debris (in this case: sweat, sunscreen, makeup). 2. WAY TO GLOWFor a guaranteed glow, first apply a hydrating mask for 10-15 minutes. Wipe or tissue off then apply a few drops of your favourite serum for renewed radiance. 3. ACTIVATE YOUR BEST SKINA skincare boost from the South Australian Hills: Activating Water Essence preps skin to absorb and enhance the full benefit of serums and moisturisers. It's made from softening marshmallow root extract from our Jurlique Farm in South Australia. 4. BAN THE BRUSHAvoid the trend of applying serums with a makeup or facial brush; you’ll lose precious product soaked up into the brush hairs. Instead, use your fingertips to lightly massage your serum directly into the skin. Apply any excess to your neck and backs of your hands. 5. THE PERFECT FINISHTo really amplify the effects of your serum, apply to the skin and leave for a few minutes (while you brush your teeth or get dressed for the day). Then add a moisturiser over the top to seal in the serum and protect and hydrate the skin. Try the power couple that is Moisture Plus Rare Rose Serum and Moisture Plus Rare Rose Lotionn. Together, they’ve been clinically proven to visibly plump and smooth skin and renew radiance in just 7 days*. OUR FAVOURITE MORNING RITUALS FOR FRESH LOOKING SKIN - ALL DAY, EVERYDAY

OUR FAVOURITE MORNING RITUALS FOR FRESH LOOKING SKIN - ALL DAY, EVERYDAY

Confession time: no, we did not wake up like this. Great skin takes preparation and good behaviour. Here, we share a few of our favourite morning rituals that help us hit our hydration and glow goals. 1. START WITH SLEEPTo have a great skin day, you really need to have had 8 hours of restful sleep the night before. Plan ahead by avoiding sleep-disturbing stimulants like caffeine, sugar, and alcohol in the evening, log off all devices at least an hour before bed, and hit your silk pillow before 10pm. Wake to skin glowing with gratitude. 2. BEAUTY BEGINS FROM WITHINStarting your day with a genuinely positive mindset will help you radiate fresh-faced optimism. A couple of ways to get you into a healthy head space: set a positive intention for the day by repeating a mantra or affirmations that resonate, practise some yoga poses, or meditate. As British author Roald Dahl said: “If you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” 3. WORK UP A SWEATAs the body’s largest organ, the skin loves and appreciates a workout. Raising your heart rate (and a decent sweat) boosts your skin’s circulation and natural radiance. Find a form of exercise you love and can commit to, even if all you have time for is a 10-minute power walk around the block. Just do it. 4. SELF CARETaking good, consistent care of your skin is the best form of self-care. Start your day by cleansing your skin, then apply a hydrating serum, followed by a nurturing moisturiser to hydrate and protect you from the skin stresses of the day ahead. We love the 24-hour hydration of the Moisture Plus Rare Rose range. 5. HYDRATE INSIDE & OUTJust as you can literally see dehydration in the skin (hey there fine lines), drinking 8 glasses of water a day really helps skin look fresh, smooth, and radiant. Start strong by drinking two glasses upon waking and continue through the day. Overachievers eat water-dense fruits and vegetables such as berries, watermelon, cucumbers, and celery for extra credit. P.S. Don’t forget how drying your environment can be. Keep a hydrating facial mist close by for an instant skin refresh to combat the drying effects of sun exposure, air-conditioning and central heating. We don’t make a move without Rosewater Balancing Mist. 6. FAKE ITFor whatever reason, and there’s always a reason, you haven’t been able to commit to any of the above. Freshen up fatigued skin by adding a few drops of a tinted bronzer or illuminator into your moisturiser or foundation. And promise to do better tomorrow.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FACE OILS

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FACE OILS

Face oils have been around forever, but the buzz has been building over the past few years - and for good reason: a good face oil can be a complexion game-changer (we swear by them at Jurlique HQ). A couple of drops of a high-performance oil can hydrate, smooth and soften your skin (hello fewer lines and wrinkles), and make it more resilient – not to mention give you an enviable glow. Here’s what to look for in a face oil, and how to use it for the most radiant results. WHAT ARE FACE OILS? Face oils are concentrated skin care products that contain botanical extracts, vitamins and minerals. They come in an array of varieties, from individual oils that tend to focus on one skin care concern, to blends that contain several oils and treat multiple concerns. All face oils use a carrier oil as a base, such as Safflower Oil in our face oil range, which ‘carries’ the ingredients onto the skin and stops the essential oils from evaporating. HOW TO CHOOSE A FACE OIL Not all oils are created equal – look for natural, high-quality plant-based oils that will nourish the skin and won’t clog your pores, rather than synthetic and mineral oils that are comedogenic (meaning they tend to cause blackheads by blocking the pores of the skin). Face oils target different skin care concerns, so choose a face oil depending on what you need most. SENSITIVE SKIN Calendula Face Oil features 100% natural origin ingredients**, including our soothing farm-grown duo, Calendula Flower and Manuka Leaf. Chia Seeds help reinforce the skin's moisture barrier*** while a blend of Sunflower Seed and Meadowfoam Seed Oil moisturises and softens. Vitamin E provides antioxidant protection against environmental aggressors, and our farm-grown Radiance Blend enhances the skin's natural glow. **Based on ISO 16128-1 and ISO 16128-2  ***Clinical study of 15 subjects using an emulsion with Chia seed oil daily for 28 days   DULL, TIRED AND AGEING SKIN  Rich in texture yet light on application, the Herbal Recovery Face Oil contains our exclusive Jurlique Recovery Blend – a unique combination of four farm-grown botanicals that revitalise skin. Holy Basil is a potent adaptogen renowned for its abilities to fight free radicals and rejuvenate skin, reducing the first signs of ageing. When combined with the antioxidant qualities of Iris Root, Echinacea and Black Elderflower, our Jurlique Recovery Blend helps skin respond to lifestyle stressors and assists in minimising early signs of skin ageing.  MATURE SKIN Recommended oil: Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil. This oil contains Blackcurrant Seed Oil which deeply hydrates and helps firm and smooth skin, and Rock Samphire extract which, thanks to its ability to help firm the skin and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, has been nicknamed the “Retinol of the sea”.Good face oils hydrate, soften and revitalise the skin while protecting it from environmental aggressors – the perfect way to amplify your skin care ritual. Jurlique face oils are made up of pure, plant-based oils to nourish skin. Find one that suits your skin type here. FAQs What are the benefits of face oils? Face oils deliver concentrated nourishment that can help smooth, soften, and support the skin’s natural barrier. They lock in moisture, add radiance, and leave the complexion feeling supple and comfortable. The main face oil benefits include improved hydration, refined texture, and a healthy, natural glow.  Is it good to put oil on your face every day? Yes. Used daily, a lightweight facial oil can help maintain balance and hydration. Many formulas absorb quickly, leaving no greasy feel. Apply morning and evening after your serum or essence and before moisturiser for the best results. What are the disadvantages of applying oil on the face? Using too much or choosing an oil that’s too heavy for your skin can lead to congestion or shine. Always apply a few drops and opt for non-comedogenic, naturally derived formulas. For guidance, browse our face collection or reach out via contact. How do I apply face oils? Warm two to three drops between your palms and press gently into the skin. This technique helps the oil absorb evenly and enhances your natural glow. Incorporate gentle massage or use skincare tools to boost circulation. How to choose a face oil? Consider your skin’s condition. Lightweight oils suit oily or combination skin, while richer blends are ideal for dry or mature skin.

HOW TO GET RID OF TIRED-LOOKING EYES

HOW TO GET RID OF TIRED-LOOKING EYES

Do you have dry, dark or puffy eyes? You’re not alone. The skin surrounding our eyes are seriously thin, so tired-looking eyes can be caused by more than a lack of sleep. If you are looking less-than-fresh, it could be because of genetics, ageing, allergies, diet, sun damage, or too much screen time. To brighten up the eye area and hide the signs of fatigue, take on these expert tips.APPLY A SPECIALISED EYE CREAMEye creams are formulated for different skin care concerns, so choose one that suits your needs most. Our eye creams are packed full of potent, plant-based ingredients from the Jurlique Farm to minimise the symptoms of tired-looking eyes.PUFFINESS AND DARK CIRCLESWe recommend: Jurlique Herbal Recovery Signature Eye Cream. Silk Tree extract in this deeply nourishing product addresses common signs of fatigue – it’s our best eye cream for tired, puffy eyes.DEHYDRATION AND FINE LINESWe recommend: Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming Eye Cream. Rich in plant-based antioxidants, this eye gel soothes and hydrates the skin, diminishing signs of dehydration and fine lines, packed with Green Coffee extract and Ascorbyl Glucoside, this eye cream helps address loss of dehydration, as well as reduce visible lines and wrinkles.DEEP WRINKLES AND SIGNS OF AGEINGWe recommend: Jurlique Nutri-Define Eye Contour Balm. A rich and highly concentrated anti-ageing balm, this product is designed to improve the appearance of deep lines, crow’s feet and dark circles around the eyes.DISCOLOURATION AND DARK CIRCLESWe recommend: Jurlique Purely White Skin Brightening Eye Correcting Cream. This is a high-performance eye cream, packed with our exclusive plant-based and Vitamin C-rich VitaBrightKX complex to even skin tone and discolouration. It also reduces the appearance of dark circles, puffiness and dehydration.REFRESH YOUR EYES WITH EYE DROPSWe’re all guilty of spending too much time in front of screens and digital devices, and when we do we strain our eyes and blink less. This can cause our eyes to become bloodshot and dry, making the eye area look tired. To balance this, try and look away from digital screens every 20 minutes and close your eyes, and use lubricating eye drops as needed.REDUCE PUFFINESSThere’s a reason our favourite chick flicks all have scenes of the main characters sporting cucumber slices on their eyes when face masking. The coolness of the slices relieves puffiness and can give the eye area a real hydration boost. Don’t have any cucumber to hand? Place two metal spoons in the fridge overnight and use the rounded side to massage your eye area – the coolness will help firm up swollen skin and the massage will help with lymphatic drainage.SWITCH UP YOUR DIETIt’s not just what we put on our faces, but what we eat can have a knock-on effect on our appearance too. For foods that brighten your eyes, look for those rich in vitamin C (oranges, broccoli, kale and strawberries), which can help with the appearance of dark circles and under eye bags. Antioxidant-rich foods (leafy greens, blueberries and eggs) help to give the skin surrounding the eye area a healthy glow, while yellow and orange veggies reduce the appearance of eye discolouration. And what to avoid? You knew it was coming - alcohol and salt can lead to swelling and puffiness under the eyes, so try and cut down on your intake. Don’t just leave it to make up and super-charged concealers – deal with your tired-looking eyes by adding an eye cream to your skin care ritual. Discover our range of eye creams to suit every skin concern here.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE

It’s never too early to start taking care of your skin. Whether you’re in the prevention-is-better-than-cure stage or your skin is ready for a helping hand, it’s worth adding anti-ageing products to your ritual. Think of them as skin care saviours, made to soften and smooth your skin, leaving it more supple. Our experts explain the process and give us their anti-ageing beauty secrets – from the best anti-ageing products to use, to daily anti-ageing lifestyle tips. HOW DOES SKIN AGE?It’s no secret that the appearance and texture of skin changes over time. It’s a natural process that begins in your mid-20s, when our collagen and elastin production declines, but environmental aggressors such as stress, pollution, dehydration, poor diet and lack of sleep can accelerate it. And, of course, there’s sun exposure, which is one of (if not the) greatest cause of premature ageing. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE?While we’re all for embracing natural beauty at any age, anti-ageing skin care products can help combat the signs of ageing and keep your skin feeling soft and supple and looking heathy. These specially-formulated products work to stimulate collagen production (skin’s natural filler) and restore elastin, which gives skin its flexibility. Anti-ageing products also deliver antioxidants, such as vitamins A and C, to the skin, which help to protect it from environmental stressors. They also contain Glycolic acid – a natural acid which helps to resurface and regenerate skin, improving its tone and texture. CHOOSING AN ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE RITUAL THAT’S RIGHT FOR YOUUse targeted, active products that address the signs of ageing, like lines, wrinkles, dehydration and a loss of firmness and definition. When it comes to an anti-ageing routine, serum and eye creams are vital additions. But we need different anti-ageing products at different stages of our lives – someone in their late 20s witnessing their first signs of ageing will need products that have different formulas and benefits to someone in their late 50s who has advanced signs of ageing, so choose your ritual carefully.FIRST SIGNS OF AGEINGThe first signs of ageing are typically dullness, dryness, fatigue and fine lines, which start to appear in your late 20s and 30s. We recommend using our Herbal Recovery skin care range at this stage, which is packed with Viola Tricolor, Yarrow and Cedar Bud extracts to help hydrate skin and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.VISIBLE AND ADVANCED SIGNS OF AGEINGIt’s in our 40s that we tend to see fine lines, loss of elasticity, irregular texture and uneven skin tone, and our 50s when deep-set wrinkles, age spots and discolouration start to appear. At this stage, we recommend using our Nutri-Define range. Containing active ingredients such as Horseradish Root and Peppermint Leaf extracts, Nutri-Define effectively targets advanced signs of ageing such as sagging skin, deep lines and wrinkles. No matter what your anti-ageing skin care ritual, always remember to apply your skin care to your neck and décolletage and exfoliate a couple of times a week to refine and repair skin. DON’T FORGET YOUR HANDSLike the skin on our face, our hands are one of the first places to show signs of ageing and need extra care than the skin on our body. Air conditioning, extreme weather conditions, pollutants and sun exposure can affect the look and feel of skin on the hands, so apply a rich and nourishing hand creams regularly throughout the day. BE DILIGENT WITH SPFSun has damaging effects on the skin so it’s essential to use an SPF every day, even in winter or when it’s overcast. At Jurlique, we’re yet to find a sunscreen formula that we’re happy with so while we wait, choose your favourite to end your skin care ritual with. Wear sunglasses and a hat to avoid squinting, which can cause crow’s feet and lines to form.Of course, anti-ageing isn’t just about skin care but your lifestyle, too. Cutting down on sugar, getting eight hours’ of sleep a night, eating anti-ageing foods (those rich in omega-3s) and drinking at least 2L of water a day all help to keep the ageing process at bay.Shop our Herbal Recovery range and Nutri-Define range for our natural-based anti-ageing skin care products.

4 WAYS FOR NATURALLY FIRMER SKIN

4 WAYS FOR NATURALLY FIRMER SKIN

Beauty is an evolution and oftentimes, changes like sagging skin and a loss of elasticity are so subtle, you don’t even see them occurring. When you do, it might be to notice that wrinkles appear deeper, your skin looks less supple, or that it’s lost some of the plump springiness that it once had. These visible signs of ageing result from a combination of both intrinsic factors (that is, genetically inherited changes to the skin), and extrinsic factors (known aggressors like UV damage, pollution, stress and diet), both of which impact on the skin’s levels of collagen. If your goal is firmer, more supple skin, these four tips will set you in the right direction.PRACTICE SUN SAFETYIt’s long been known that sun exposure without adequate protection is the number-one extrinsic factor in skin ageing, resulting in fine lines, age spots and pigmentation. However new research published in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology suggests that UV damage may also be responsible for sagging skin and an overall loss of volume in the face. What’s more, this can be seen far earlier in women who are regularly in the sun. In a study of more than 3000 women from Australia, the US, UK, and Canada, the authors found that Australian women – who typically have higher levels of UV exposure – showed the signs of ageing up to 20 years earlier than their counterparts in the Northern Hemisphere. So to keep skin looking smoother and firmer for longer, be sure to apply a high-level SPF every single day.CUT DOWN ON SUGARA diet that’s too high in sugar can dehydrate the skin, making it look less supple and causing lines and wrinkles to appear more prominent. More seriously, sugar also accelerates skin-sagging through a process called glycation. Once consumed, the sugar molecules attach themselves to other molecules in the body – including essential skin-building proteins like collagen – causing them to harden and become stiff. This impacts on the elasticity and firmness of our skin, and compromises its natural bounce.MAINTAIN A STABLE WEIGHTRapid changes or fluctuations in weight can stretch the skin. As we age, it loses its ability to snap back into place, leaving it looking looser and less supple, with lines and wrinkles appearing more pronounced. Maintaining a consistent, stable weight is far kinder to the skin and helps keep sagging at bay for longer.COMMIT TO A TARGETED SKIN RITUALThe advanced signs of ageing, like deep lines and wrinkles, sagging and a loss of definition, can be effectively addressed with the right skin care ritual, such as Nutri-Define. As our most advanced anti-ageing offering, it relies on specific and targeted active ingredients to soften the look of deep wrinkles and help skin feel more supple. These include Horseradish Root Extract, known to improve firmness, and Glycogen to help boost skin’s natural defences. After using Nutri-Define Eye Contour Balm for eight weeks, 94% of women noticed their eye contour area was visibly smoother and more defined*.*Source: Based on a survey of 57 subjects aged 45-65 after 8 weeks of using Nutri-Define Eye Contour Balm.

EAT YOUR WAY TO RADIANT SKIN

EAT YOUR WAY TO RADIANT SKIN

It’s true: beauty really does start from within. While we have our arsenal of skin care products for brightening, smoothing and moisturising, what we put inside our bodies is just as important. The first step to clear, radiant skin is a healthy diet and – fortunately – we’ve got a few easy tips for glowing skin. Here are a few simple changes you can make daily to achieve that natural glow. HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATEIf you only do one thing to improve your skin, make it your mission in life to drink more water. Drinking around 2 litres of water a day helps to flush out toxins and keep you hydrated - keep a bottle of water on your desk at work and take regular sips throughout the day and try adding a bit of flavour with slices of fresh lemon to make it interesting. For extra help, mist your skin throughout the day – we love our Lavender Hydrating Mist for instant hydration, as well as leaving skin feeling refreshed and rebalanced. Water and ice in glass mason jar EAT AN ARRAY OF WHOLEFOODSThe best diet for good skin is made up of a rainbow of fruit, veggies and wholefoods, thanks to essential nutrients that boost, repair and radiate your skin. For stimulating collagen production and improving skin’s texture, up your Vitamin C intake with oranges, capsicums and strawberries. Want to reduce oil and prevent wrinkles? Vitamin A – found in carrots and leafy green vegetables – is your friend. Zinc is also known for regulating oil production, which you’ll find in eggs, chickpeas, legumes and seafood, while selenium (found in walnuts and brazil nuts) aids Vitamin E absorption. ADD HEALTHY FATS TO EACH MEALWhile the word ‘fats’ may seem counterintuitive to a healthy diet, healthy fats are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which keep skin hydrated and repair damaged skin cells (as well as a host of other benefits, like increasing our energy and improving brain function). ‘Good fats’ can be found in avocados (we’ve all seen that meme), fish, nuts and seeds, as well as olive and coconut oils. Up your good fat intake with our Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil – a blend of Grapeseed, Avocado and Rosehip oils that revitalises the complexion and minimises the first signs of ageing. Sliced avocado on table INTRODUCE GUT-HEALING FOODS TO YOUR DIETA healthy gut leads to healthy skin. The gut absorbs nutrients and eliminates toxins, so keep it nourished to ensure it can work as well as possible. Probiotic-rich foods such as fermented vegetables, miso and natural yoghurt boost your gut health, while digestion can be improved with fibre-rich foods such as brown rice, beans, lentils, oats and chia seeds. AVOID THE BAD STUFFAs much as ‘good’ foods can help boost skin radiance, ‘bad’ foods have the adverse effect. As much as possible, steer clear of processed and packaged foods, which are full of additives and artificial ingredients that can dull your skin. They’re also full of refined sugars, which can damage collagen (if you’re not ready to give up the sweet stuff completely, choose a natural sweetener such as honey, maple syrup or stevia). Avoid salty foods, as salt draws water out of the skin and lastly – cut down on your alcohol intake. Not only does it slow down the liver function, but alcohol also leads to a build-up of toxins (of course, we can’t say no to wine forever so when you do drink, make sure to balance it out by drinking plenty of water).
