4 FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BIOSOME6

4 FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BIOSOME6

Since 2014, Nutri-Define has been one of our flagship ranges, attracting devotees around the world thanks to its nourishing and natural-based anti-ageing formulas. Six years later and we’ve reformulated the range to make its anti-ageing properties even more powerful, using the latest technology and potent botanicals grown on the Jurlique Farm to create skin care designed to firmer, younger and smoother-looking skin.   The complete Nutri-Define Supreme range helps to address the appearance of: • Deeper, more visible lines and wrinkles • Lack of elasticity • Crepiness and thinning appearance of the skin • Discolouration and uneven skin tone • Advanced dehydration and moisture loss • Loss of smoothness and irregular skin texture • Dullness, decreased clarity and lack of luminosity and radiance   The reformulated range is all down to Biosome6, a revolutionary new liposome technology that harnesses nature’s most potent natural ingredients to fight the signs of ageing. It’s a unique delivery system that is a micro-dispersion of the six botanical plant extracts from the Jurlique Farm. Discover everything you need to know about Biosome6 below – and how it will upgrade your anti-ageing skin care.   IT HARNESSES LIPOSOME TECHNOLOGY Liposome technology is a skin care delivery system that was first used in 1986 to deliver active ingredients to the skin and help them penetrate more effectively. Biosome6 refills gaps in the stratum corneum, your skin’s natural protective barrier, to improve moisture retention. Each micro-capsule penetrates beneath the skin’s surface, delivering greater concentrates of Spilanthes Flower Extract, Horseradish Root Extract and the Jurlique Radiance Blend to restore luminosity, volume and suppleness.   IT PROTECTS AND RESTORES SKIN The advanced Biosome6 technology helps to protect skin and delivers the active ingredients by mimicking the skin’s natural lipid structure. It helps to restore the intercellular lipids of the surface of the epidermis, improving the appearance of the skin and enhancing its barrier function.     THE NAME IS AN AMALGAMATION OF ITS PARTS We haven’t just made it up, Biosome6 does actually mean something. ‘Bio’ represents the biodynamic farming we practice on the Jurlique Farm, ‘some’ represents liposome technology and ‘6’ represents the six farm-grown extracts that are found in the formula: Spilanthes, Horseradish, Marshmallow, Calendula, Rose and Lavender.   IT INCREASES COLLAGEN PRODUCTION IN SKIN …by up to 46%*. Collagen and elastin are essential proteins that give skin a plump, firm and youthful appearance. Age and exposure slow down the production of both these proteins, leading to wrinkles, sagging skin, and a loss of firmness. Biosome6 boosts your skin’s natural ability to produce Collagen VII and Collagen I, two types of collagen integral to preventing signs of ageing.

5 WAYS TO BOOST COLLAGEN NATURALLY

5 WAYS TO BOOST COLLAGEN NATURALLY

Collagen. It’s been a buzzword in the beauty industry for years. Alongside elastin, it’s one of the vital proteins that your skin needs to maintain plumpness, firmness, radiance – and to fight the signs of ageing. You may see collagen-boosting creams, supplements and even drinks that can be consumed, all in the name of supple, youthful-looking skin but the best way to boost collagen levels is through a combination of natural skin care products and a few healthy lifestyle habits. WHAT IS COLLAGEN? Collagen is the common form of protein that supports our skin’s structure and suppleness. It is found in tissues of the muscles, bones, tendons, blood vessels and the digestive system since the day we’re born but as we reach the age of 20, our bodies start to produce less and less collagen, which can result in wrinkles and sagging in skin. Our bodies can’t produce collagen by itself, which explains why there are so many products on the market that claim to help stimulate collagen production in skin. But it’s not just about what we put on our skin - we also need other nutrients to aid the process of collagen production such as zinc, vitamin C and copper. Read on for our five top tips to help boost your skin’s collagen levels. HOW TO INCREASE COLLAGEN NATURALLY 1. HYDRATE Ever heard the saying ‘healthy skin starts from the inside-out’? It’s true: drinking at least 2L of water every day or consuming the equivalent in water-rich foods such as watermelon, cucumber, and strawberries, not only keeps you hydrated, but also produces the moisture-rich environment in which collagen and elastin thrive.2. CHOOSE COLLAGEN-BOOSTING FOODS AND EAT WELL Where possible, avoid sugar and choose foods that boost collagen such as nutrient-rich leafy greens, citrus, and cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower). These foods contain high levels of Vitamin C and Sulphur, both of which are essential to healthy rates of collagen production. Read our guide for eating your way to radiant skin for more health food tips.3. APPLY NATURAL-BASED SKIN CARE PRODUCTS Supplement your diet with a targeted natural skin care ritual. Our reformulated Nutri-Define range harnesses the power of liposomes - natural microscopic fluid bodies - to restore the skin’s barrier and enhance moisture retention. Natural ingredients including an extract from the Spilanthes flower, have been shown to boost the production of Collagen VII and Collagen I, two essential anti-ageing proteins, by up to 46%*. Use both Nutri-Define Supreme Rejuvenating Serum and Restorative Cream to achieve more optimal results.4. PAMPER YOURSELF Level up your daily skin care routine with a jade roller or facial massage tool. Regular face massages can boost blood circulation and promote collagen production - plus they’re a great way to unwind at the end of a long day. Need a bit more pampering? Discover our favourite (and easy) self-care rituals that you can add to your routine effortlessly.5. PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN You knew it was coming: sun protection. While protecting your skin from the sun won’t boost collagen levels, it will preserve them. Sun exposure can speed up collagen breakdown, potentially undoing all the good work you put in elsewhere in your skin care ritual. To prevent this, apply our UV Defence Daily Lotion SPF 50+ 30 every day, even when it’s cloudy, and protect yourself further with a sunhat during the hotter months. 6. SUPPLEMENTS AND LIFESTYLE HABITS  In addition to skincare, diet and supplements that boost collagen can support your skin from within. Marine collagen, vitamin C, and zinc-based supplements may help your body produce collagen in skin more effectively. Always consult a professional before adding new supplements. Equally important is managing stress, since high stress levels can accelerate collagen loss. Gentle rituals, deep breathing, or mindful skincare moments can help restore balance for resilient, radiant skin. FAQs  Can you rebuild collagen in your skin? Yes. While collagen declines with age, targeted products like collagen skincare and nutrient-rich foods can help restore collagen in the face. Which food has the highest collagen? Bone broth contains naturally occurring collagen. For plant-based support, citrus, berries, and broccoli help your body maintain collagen in skin. Can I increase my collagen naturally? Yes. Hydration, a balanced diet, moisturisers, and consistent sun protection all help you build collagen naturally and maintain healthy-looking skin. How do you build collagen naturally? Through lifestyle and ritual: hydrate, eat collagen-boosting foods, use serums, incorporate massage, and protect your skin from UV exposure. For tailored skincare advice, visit our contact page. How can I rebuild my collagen fast? The fastest way to get collagen is through collagen-rich foods like bone broth, or supplements combined with vitamin C to aid absorption.

A GUIDE TO NATURAL VS. SYNTHETIC INGREDIENTS IN ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE

A GUIDE TO NATURAL VS. SYNTHETIC INGREDIENTS IN ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE

As consumers we’re becoming more switched on than ever about what we’re putting onto our skin. In the beauty sphere, the course of natural skin care in Australia has boomed. When it comes to anti-ageing skin care, it can be difficult picking the right product(s) and regimen that’s best for you, let alone working out if you’re team natural or team synthetic. Is organic skin care really better? Are natural ingredients less powerful? What are safe synthetics? Here’s our guide to answer some of those questions about natural skin care vs synthetic skin care and also go through the best ingredients for anti-ageing. NATURAL ANTI-AGEING INGREDIENTS FOR SKIN To have a product boast being natural is alluring without a doubt. But it’s important to be wary as not all-natural ingredients are good, non-GMO or ethically sourced. At Jurlique we take the uncompromising task to preserve the integrity of nature and challenge what’s possible form natural skin care.AntioxidantsAntioxidants are a broad category of natural ingredients and include essential fatty acids like Rosehip Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. All of these ingredients boost collagen naturally, aid moisture retention and fight environmental aggressors. Grapeseed oil reduces fine lines, Avocado Oil nurtures the skin, while Rosehip Oil is rich in essential fatty acids and known for its restorative properties. You can find this antioxidant-rich blend of botanical oils in our Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Face Oil. A few drops mixed in with your moisturisers will revitalise your complexion and minimise the first signs of ageing.Plant extractsPreserving the integrity of nature by harnessing potent plant extracts for skin is at the heart of what we do at Jurlique. This is why we use our Bio-Intrinsic™ method, an alchemistic process that involves three stages where all the powerful ingredients from plants and herbs are extracted - the essence and life force of the plant is captured to deliver a magnified plant extract powerful enough to enhance the beauty of your skin. Our Herbal Recovery Eye Cream harnesses potent plant extracts and is clinically proven to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.iThe Yarrow Extract from our Jurlique farm in our Herbal Recovery Signature Serum also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a firmer, smoother, and more youthful appearance.Advanced natural technologiesAs we get older, a targeted skin care routine is essential. At Jurlique we challenge the orthodoxies of natural skin care by fusing science and natural ingredients to create high performing, potent skin care for healthy beautiful skin. With our new reformulated anti-ageing Nutri-Define range, we fuse our most advanced, next generation Biosome6 Technology with the power of nature. Our Biosome6 Technology is an exclusive Jurlique liposome that delivers active natural ingredients deeper into the layers of ageing skin. 75% of women said their skin was more visibly youthful and 89% noticed a visible improvement in overall appearance of skin.iiSkin superfoodsThis category includes natural ingredients that are so effective they deserve a mention. Spilanthes extract helps promote collagen production, making it a powerful anti-ageing ingredient. Horseradish also boosts collagen production and helps minimise the appearance of skin discolouration. With 1-2 pumps of our Nutri-Define Supreme Rejuvenating Serum followed by Nutri-Define Supreme Eye Contour Balm and your choice of either Nutri-Define Supreme Restorative Rich Cream or Light Cream, these key ingredients will target key ageing concerns like loss of elasticity, uneven skin tone and wrinkles leaving you with luminous, redefined, youthful skin. Open skin care bottles sitting on a grey counter SYNTHETIC INGREDIENTS Using synthetic ingredients is almost inevitable. Ingredients with SPF, glycolic acid and hyaluronic acid have become staples in many skincare rituals. Here are some good synthetic ingredients you can look out for:RetinolRetinol is a synthetic Vitamin A derivative effective on stimulating collagen, cell turnover and reversing signs of ageing. Start with low concentration to avoid skin irritation. It’s important to note that retinol increases your skin’s sensitivity to sun, so make sure to wear a good SPF during the day. Products containing retinol are unsafe to use during pregnancy.EnzymesAHAs like glycolic acids and BHAs like salicylic acid both act to fight dullness and textured skin. It’s all about experimentation - start small with acids because if they’re overused, they can cause skin irritation and chemical burns. Low concentrations of AHA can be used during pregnancy, but BHAs in general should be avoided. THE BOTTOM LINE Some synthetic ingredients certainly offer anti-ageing benefits, but rest assured there are plenty of natural alternatives that are equally, if not more, effective. There’s no rule saying you can’t use both. They key is to make sure all ingredients you use on your skin are safe, effective and scientifically backed.

PAIGE HASABALLAH’S CREATIVE PROCESS

PAIGE HASABALLAH’S CREATIVE PROCESS

Paige Hasaballah, or Delta Venus to her Instagram followers, is a Melbourne-based artist who draws upon her Egyptian cultural heritage and Australian upbringing to create modern, abstract art. The result is a collection of contemporary paintings that can mean so many different things to different people: the sign of a great artist. In celebration of our latest Adriana Picker-designed limited-edition products – Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition and Jurlique Rose Luxe Edition Hand Cream – we spoke to Paige about her own creative process and how she incorporates the products into her own daily routine.Tell us about your work and what you do?I am a visual artist, designer and poet. My work is about the embodiment of light and dark, conscious and subconscious, inner and outer worlds. My aim is to create a space within which people experiencing the work can reflect on themselves. How did you get into this position?Looking back on it I can't help but see some very divine timing. My design work kept me working predominantly on computers or electronic devices, so I had a real pull to work in a more tactile space and use my hands. I have always been really drawn to building or creating with different materials. In late 2017, my family lost our grandmother on my Egyptian side. Within a number of days after she passed, I began painting for the first time in my life. Things took off really quickly from there as I began to publicly share what I was creating with others. Now I see myself as a vessel for the work to flow through and into the lives of others.Describe your process when it comes to your work – how do you tackle a new project?I hold space within myself for the work to move through me. I think of it as a sort of meditation or prayer. A vision will come to me in a dream or a moment of quiet surrender, I pick up water materials I am pulled to and breathe deeply. The work sort of creates itself, it's just my job to get out of the way. What challenges do you face in your work?I think my main challenge is around resisting the natural flow of things. At times I find myself trying to force a piece of art or painting because I think I "should" be doing that. I am yet to force out a piece of work I am happy with. Some days you need to bake a loaf of bread instead or go for a walk in the park or have a glass of wine with a friend. I am constantly reminding myself that magic happens in the flow state. What do you find most rewarding? The most rewarding part of the creative process for me is the way it allows me to connect with others. I have connected with so many incredible people across the world through this practice. Hearing the way one of my pieces inspires someone or prompts them to lean into their own power is the most fulfilling part of my practice.Face Scrub with leaf on a trayWhen you’re experiencing a creative block, how do you get out of it?A year ago, I would have said to push through it. Now my approach is a little more gentle. When I am feeling a creative block, I do something else, I follow the natural flow of my energy. When I am not resisting where it wants to take me, it always brings me back to creating. Some days I just need to detour past a few other things first. What advice would you give to others who are looking to explore their creativity?Get started and start with anything. Be playful with it. Try out different mediums. Don't be too attached to any sort of outcome and just see what comes up. You cannot fail in art, but you are certainly cheating yourself out of the pleasure of creation by holding yourself back.Talk us through how you use your limited edition Jurlique products throughout your dayThe Jurlique Rose Luxe Edition Hand Cream has been an absolute lifesaver for me over the past few weeks. I have been restoring furniture outside of my other creative work and all of that sanding really wears your skin down. Each night and morning I put on the hand cream and it gives them new life! I have been spraying the Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition on my face throughout the day as I work. It is the perfect refresher on my skin and gives me that little wake-up call when I am starting to get sluggish.View more of Paige’s work on her Instagram and website.

FIND YOUR PERFECT STYLE AND SKIN CARE MATCH THIS AUTUMN

FIND YOUR PERFECT STYLE AND SKIN CARE MATCH THIS AUTUMN

Autumn invites us to embrace the energy of change. As summer morphs into Autumn, the leaves go from green to red and the winds change from warm to crisp – it truly heralds a season of transformation. In this time, we update our outfit and skin care choices, swapping out summer linens for merino sweaters and reaching for more hydrating products. It’s essential to accommodate the seasonal change, so we’ve created a guide to finding your perfect style and skin care match this Autumn.Upgrade your Autumn skin care ritualAs the seasons change, so do your skin care needs. Along with dehydration, improper nutrition and stress, environmental factors also play a part in the skin imbalance. Your skin tends to get drier and duller in colder months, so it’s important to adjust your skin care products to cater to the environmental change.Keep it cleanIn the cooler months, your normal skin renewal process tends to slow down. This is what gives the skin a textured and dull looking appearance. To speed up your skin renewal process, we recommend exfoliation to help slough away the dead skin cells. Be careful not aggravate your skin by using harsh exfoliants and exfoliators. Our Nutri-Define Supreme Cleansing Foam contains natural jojoba beads to help polish your skin and encourage healthy cell turnover. At the end of your cleanse, your skin will feel soft, refreshed and revitalised.Tip: Aim to cleanse with lukewarm water, rather than hot to prevent extra drying of your skin.Pack on the moistureTo help renew and keep your skin hydrated, reach for the more hydrating and rich formulas. Using a moisturiser like Nutri-Define Supreme Restorative Rich Cream will help replenish your skin’s moisture and lipids. An essential step to retaining that hydration is using a water essence before moisturising. Applying Activating Water Essence to your skin first will activate your skin’s ability to maintain moisture and also stop it from escaping, for continuous hydration .Stay sun smartYou can still get sun damage on windy, cloudy and cool days. Dry skin after sun exposure happens no matter the season, so it’s important to wear sunscreen all year round. Make sure your sunscreen is SPF 30 or higher. Don’t rely on the sunscreen in your makeup to prevent premature skin ageing and sun damage. Even if you work inside you should wear additional sunscreen under your makeup.Upgrade your wardrobeAutumn – especially in Australia – can be a challenge. It seems like the weather doesn’t want to make up its mind. It’s muggy one day and cool the next. It can get tricky figuring out what to wear in Autumn. At Birdsnest, an Australian family owned business, they do the hard work for you. With a collection of 1000’s of curated outfits designed by their in-house stylist to suit a range of different style personalities, they’re kind of like a magic wardrobe.Layering is essentialKeeping your layers thin gives you more to play with in Autumn. You can even keep some your favourite summer pieces too as they can be layered with thin knits and cardigans like this Modern Bohemian look. The perfect collaboration of a bohemian, free spirit style and a modern classy look.Mix up patterns and texturesAutumn is all about change, so try something new! Playing around with patterns and textures gives your autumn outfits an interesting twist. Amp up a casual outfit of a white blouse by experimenting with a pair of snake print denim jeans. Add your own personal flair to a simple look or follow Birdsnest’s style advice.BeltsAn underrated accessory, belts are the best when it comes to tying in those layers. They also add structure to your outfits. Not too sure about how style belts? At Birdsnest, when you fill out the Style Profile, they’ll provide personal style recommendations just for you.Embrace the changeIf anything, the new season gives you a perfect excuse to treat yourself to new skin care products and a new wardrobe. Birdnest provides a 365 day return policy and free express delivery on all orders so your wardrobe dilemmas will be solved from this season to the next.Shop our Nutri-Define range to re-energise your skin this Autumn.

6 HAND WASHES AND CREAMS TO CARE FOR YOUR HANDS

6 HAND WASHES AND CREAMS TO CARE FOR YOUR HANDS

Hand soaps have always been a necessity to clean hands and kill germs - and are more important than ever. With the spread of COVID-19 around the world, advice from health experts is to wash your hands to prevent the virus from spreading. Why? According to this article, written by Pall Thordarson, a professor of chemistry at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, the “virus is a self-assembled nanoparticle in which the weakest link the lipid (fatty) bilayer. Soap dissolves the fat membrane and the virus falls apart like a house of cards and dies – or rather, we should say it becomes inactive as viruses aren’t really alive.”The Department of Health recommends washing hands for 20 seconds, paying particular attention to the backs of hands and fingers, fingernails, fingertips and the webbing between fingers. Excessive hand washing and use of alcohol-based hand sanitisers may cause your hands to feel dry, so we suggest regularly using a nourishing hand cream throughout the day. Here are our best hand washes and creams to care for your hands.Softening Hand Wash Rose: this hand wash contains a special blend of natural botanicals and Rosa gallica extracts to cleanse and nurture your hands. Free from harsh chemicals, artificial colours and synthetic fragrances its pH-balanced formula leaves your hands feeling clean and refreshed, while its delicate Rose fragrance uplifts your senses.Restoring Hand Wash Lemon, Geranium & Clary Sage: enriched with natural extracts of hydrating Marshmallow Root, calming Chamomile and purifying Echinacea, this hand wash softens your skin as it gently cleans, and its unique blend of natural botanical fragrance oils revitalises the senses.handsRose Hand Cream: this rich hand cream features our uplifting signature scent of Rose. JENNIFER TRAN'S CREATIVE PROCESS

JENNIFER TRAN'S CREATIVE PROCESS

Give Sydney-based artist Jennifer Tran some paper and a few tools and she can transform it into something spectacular: paper flowers so rich and detailed they look just like the real thing. Through her growing business, Papetal, she’s worked with brands around the world, authored her own book and been featured in renowned publications such as The Design Files and National Sculpture Magazine of China. In celebration of our latest Adriana Picker-designed limited-edition products – Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition and Jurlique Rose Luxe Edition Hand Cream – we spoke to Jennifer about her own creative process and how she incorporates the products into her own daily routine. She even whipped up some of her special creations, too.Tell us about your work and what you do?I make paper flowers for advertising, window displays and set designs. On occasion, I also run flower making workshops and participate in store activations. It’s a very exciting career, as it allows me to exercise my creativity and connect with many talents.Bottle of Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition next to pink paper flowers How did you get into this position?By never standing still. Things change quickly in the creative industry. What is so cool today may be obsolete the next. For this reason, I never allow myself to be comfortable with my techniques or to settle with any particular methods. I keep track of what goes on in the world, how brands move and how other creatives are adapting, so that I can make changes to the way I operate. For instance, if I didn’t conquer my fear of making oversized flowers, I would possibly never have got the chance of creating window displays for Jurlique. Or if I never pushed myself into making tableware, I would never have caught the eyes of the team at Anthropologie and being able to create one of the most exciting projects in my career. Changes are hard and I fail more often than I succeed, but I don’t think I would ever get to where I am by being afraid of change.Describe your process when it comes to your work – how do you tackle a new project?I study both real flowers and botanical illustration. During the production of my book, Flowersmith, I dissected over 30 flowers just to understand their structure; how the layers are connected, how the petals are arranged and how things like buds and leaves are attached. Having an understanding of an internal structure of a flower gives me an idea of how to best replicate it. When I need to make a flower that isn’t in season, I rely quite a bit on botanical illustration. What challenges do you face in your work?Like many freelance artists, I work super crazy hours. Sometimes, I make flowers from the moment I wake up, and if I’m lucky, I get to finish at midnight. During these periods, it’s important that I take care of myself. This involves eating right, taking breaks, no skipping on Pilates and sparing a few moments for self-pampering. Pampering can be as simple as taking care of my skin, as this really relaxes me.Another challenge is learning when to say “no”. It’s tempting to secure as many projects as possible, as I’m running a business after all. In the first few years of Papetal, I didn’t know when to stop. I pushed myself too hard that my health was slowly deteriorating. When I finally felt sick, I realised that I had to make some changes. As hard as it was, I had to start saying “no” to projects that would potentially take over my life. By taking in less responsibilities, I can now focus on quality over quantity. On top of that, I now have more time for the people I love and the things I enjoy outside of flowers... like baking for instance.Tube of Jurlique Rose Luxe Edition Hand Cream next to pink paper petals What do you find most rewarding?Being able to exercise my creativity and connect with so many people. Each project is a new learning opportunity. Sometimes, I get to create flowers that don’t exist in nature. Other times, I get to invent a new technique that pushes the boundary of my craft, such as creating paper flowers that can be immersed in water etc. But above all, the best thing about my job is being able to connect with so many talents. I have met photographers who blew my mind, graphic designers who saw my work in many exciting different perspectives that I could never see and art directors who solved problems no one could. The opportunity to work with and to learn from these talents is what makes my job worthwhile. When you’re experiencing a creative block, how do you get out of it?I have creative blocks more often than not, so I’ve developed different ways of dealing with them. Here are just a few; - Discuss the challenge with my partner. He is a fantastic coach. He knows just the right questions to ask, to guide me back onto the right track. - Exercising. For me, it’s Pilates. I find that when I focus on Pilates, I become disconnected from my creative work. This creates a mental break and allows me to return to it with a fresh perspective. - Self-pampering. Just like exercising, self-pampering lets me unplug and recharge. I used to bath with Jurlique Rose Body Oil. But with the current water restrictions, I mask instead of bathing. I love Jurlique Purifying Mask as it is detoxifying yet gentle on my combination & sensitive skin. What advice would you give to others who are looking to explore their creativity?Think about what you can bring to the world instead of what you can get. When I first started, I was a part of a small community of flower artists. All I wanted to do at the time was to create something beautiful for our little community, tackle technical challenges and share the findings with others. It made me smile every time I contributed to someone else’s progress or made others want to join our little group. Having a pure intention to contribute encouraged me to explore my strengths, invent new methods and share my work without pressure or restrictions. I grew so much during this period of freedom and selflessness. And surprisingly, such rapid growth brought me so much attention and organically turned Papetal into a business.Talk us through how you use your limited edition Jurlique products throughout the dayI like to use the Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition on both my face and hands. For the face, I only use it twice, once in the AM and once in the PM and it’s just enough for my combination & sensitive skin. For my hands, I use the mist quite a lot during the day. As I work with paper and PVA glue, my hands get really dry especially after a long session of flower making. I often spray the mist three times on my hands, rub them together until the mist is fully absorbed. I then apply a dollop of the Jurlique Rose Luxe Edition Hand Cream again rub in it to cover every inch of my skin. I find this process very therapeutic as I get to inhale the uplifting scent of the Jurlique Rose.View more of Jennifer’s work on her Instagram and website.

SUNDAY LANE’S CAITLYN EVERETT ON HER CREATIVE PROCESS

Author, illustrator and creative Caitlyn Everett is the brains behind Sunday Lane, a small Brisbane-based business that inspires us daily with its modern, whimsical zodiac illustrations and verses. In celebration of our latest Adriana Picker-designed limited-edition products – Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition and Jurlique Rose Luxe Edition Hand Cream – we spoke to Caitlyn about her own creative process and how she incorporates the products into her own daily routine.Tell us about your work and what you do?I am the owner of Sunday Lane, a store and studio that centres on modern-day poetry, or affirmation and inspired gifting. We are best known for our zodiac collection, a blend of verses of powerful musings and illustration. I am the dreamer behind the brand, an author, illustrator, creative. How did you get into this position?I was working full time for a beautiful small business, and I mean, I was working myself into the ground. I gave everything I had into my work and I honestly wasn't really looking or searching for more. Sunday Lane was born by chance, a personal project turned business idea and it wasn't until it began taking off that I became discontent. I feel like I got a taste of life as my own boss and I worked really hard at it before I felt like I could back myself and quit my job.Woman’s hand resting on magazine next to tube of Jurlique hand creamDescribe your process when it comes to your work - how do you tackle a new project?Every project I've worked on has been such a learning process for me. In the beginning it was all energy and excitement and I would work 18-hour days to get new designs out but having my son, Morgan has helped me slow down. I am also more aware of my brand, who we are and where we are heading now. Our most recent project, the Zodiac 03 collection, was months of planning and research, of illustrating and writing. We also brought on a local press studio, so we really had to accept and embrace the beauty of handmade. It was such a blessing to work with such a knowledgeable and talented artist on an artform completely out of my comfort zone. What challenges do you face in your work?My biggest challenge has been defining and enforcing a work/life balance. The reality of being a small business is that we are almost always working, in store, at home, at night and on weekends. It is very hard to switch off and part of me doesn't want to.
