The Brisbane-based illustrator and graphic designer first made a name for herself illustrating her favourite fashion brands and influencers for fun, soon turning it into her full-time job.In celebration of our latest Adriana Picker-designed limited-edition products – Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition and Jurlique Rose Luxe Edition Hand Cream – we spoke to Nicola about her own creative process and how she incorporates the products into her own daily routine.Tell us about your work and what you doI am a digital illustrator and graphic designer. I create custom illustrations for brands’ social media, product packaging and textile prints, as well as creating unique brand identities for start-up businesses. How did you get into this position?I was creating illustrations as a hobby outside of my full time marketing job, and had an Instagram that I was posting my creations on. The Instagram quite quickly grew a little following, which led to brands approaching me to create artwork for them. After about a year of doing this on the side of my 9-5, I left by job and made my hobby a full-time business. Bottles of face mist and hand cream next to paintings Describe your process when it comes to your work – how do you tackle a new project? The first thing I do before starting a project is make a mood board of inspiration. I always feel super inspired after scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram for imagery inspo, and by having a mood board in place to refer back to keeps me on track throughout the design process. What challenges do you face in your work? The biggest challenge for me is working alone, I often feel like I need someone to bounce ideas off, or to get a second opinion on what I am doing, especially when the self-doubt creeps in.What do you find most rewarding?I just love being able to bring peoples’ vision to life! It makes me so happy when the client loves the work I have created for them. Bottles of hand cream and face mist next to illustrated packaging When you’re experiencing a creative block, how do you get out of it?I find that if I am experiencing a creative block it’s usually because I’m stressed or haven’t slept enough so I allow myself to take the time to unwind, go for a walk, catch up with friends, or even have a nap. Doing things to clear my head so that there is room for creativity. What advice would you give to others who are looking to explore their creativity?Find a creative outlet that brings you joy and make time for it. It could be drawing, writing, cooking, anything! It doesn't matter if you are not the best at it, to try and fail is better than never trying at all.Talk us through how you use your limited edition Jurlique products throughout your dayI keep both of the products at my desk for easy access throughout the day (and because they look beautiful sitting there). It’s so hot here in Queensland that I love to use the Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition throughout the day to freshen up. Author, illustrator and creative Caitlyn Everett is the brains behind Sunday Lane, a small Brisbane-based business that inspires us daily with its modern, whimsical zodiac illustrations and verses. In celebration of our latest Adriana Picker-designed limited-edition products – Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition and Jurlique Rose Luxe Edition Hand Cream – we spoke to Caitlyn about her own creative process and how she incorporates the products into her own daily routine.Tell us about your work and what you do?I am the owner of Sunday Lane, a store and studio that centres on modern-day poetry, or affirmation and inspired gifting. We are best known for our zodiac collection, a blend of verses of powerful musings and illustration. I am the dreamer behind the brand, an author, illustrator, creative. How did you get into this position?I was working full time for a beautiful small business, and I mean, I was working myself into the ground. I gave everything I had into my work and I honestly wasn't really looking or searching for more. Sunday Lane was born by chance, a personal project turned business idea and it wasn't until it began taking off that I became discontent. I feel like I got a taste of life as my own boss and I worked really hard at it before I felt like I could back myself and quit my job.Woman’s hand resting on magazine next to tube of Jurlique hand creamDescribe your process when it comes to your work - how do you tackle a new project?Every project I've worked on has been such a learning process for me. In the beginning it was all energy and excitement and I would work 18-hour days to get new designs out but having my son, Morgan has helped me slow down. I am also more aware of my brand, who we are and where we are heading now. Our most recent project, the Zodiac 03 collection, was months of planning and research, of illustrating and writing. We also brought on a local press studio, so we really had to accept and embrace the beauty of handmade. It was such a blessing to work with such a knowledgeable and talented artist on an artform completely out of my comfort zone. What challenges do you face in your work?My biggest challenge has been defining and enforcing a work/life balance. The reality of being a small business is that we are almost always working, in store, at home, at night and on weekends. It is very hard to switch off and part of me doesn't want to. It is my passion and I love to pour myself into my work. Having a young family has made me want to be able to switch off more. When you're experiencing a creative block, how do you get out of it?To get away from my screen and remove myself from the overstimulation of the online world. It is so easy to get caught up in it all. It's a never-ending rabbit hole.In my worst hours, or days of creative block the only thing that has helped is time, and moments away from work. My biggest lesson is that creativity comes in waves and it cannot be forced. If I trust the process, the magic will follow.Tube of Jurlique hand cream on plate next to gold rings What advice would you give to others who are looking to explore their creativity?Trust your gut and be prepared to put in the work.I dropped out of teaching to study interior design at college and in a roundabout way it got me to where I am today. If I hadn't taken the gigantic leap who knows where I would be. Of course, it is easier said than done and I was definitely someone that had a plan b. I think it is a little romantic to say I went into it with blind faith and just crossed my fingers it would work. I had a home and a family I needed to support. I worked really hard to make it my reality.Talk us through how you use your Jurlique products throughout your day?Everyone who knows me knows I am terrible with my skin care routine. Jurlique has been an absolute blessing and I've actually been carrying these products with me every day between our studio and the store. The Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition is such a low maintenance solution for someone who is time poor and both of these beauties have really helped bring me back to life after long nights preparing our new collections. They are the perfect addition to my very short morning and night routine.

Are you interested in meditation but don’t know where to begin? You may have heard people waxing lyrical about the practice and want to explore it for yourself, or maybe you’re intrigued to know what all the fuss is about. It can be difficult to get your head around when you first start out though – should I be thinking? What is it supposed to feel like? And how do you know if you are, in fact, meditating? The trick is to not overthink it but take it day by day and find what works for you. WHAT IS MEDITATION?Meditation is the practice of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts. It won’t stop the mind from thinking entirely but its purpose is to allow thoughts to come and go and teach you to observe thoughts without judgement or bias. It’s an age-old practice used to increase awareness, reduce stress and promote a positive outlook on life.BENEFITS OF MEDITATIONMeditation isn’t just a new-age fad. Countless studies have shown that meditation can help to reduce stress, improve emotional health, enhance self-awareness (understanding yourself better, enabling you to become the best version of yourself), help us to focus for longer and improve sleep. HOW TO MEDITATE1. Have a clear intention. If you don’t know why you’re meditating it will be hard to focus. Do you want to feel happier, calmer, more focused, less stressed? Setting an intention will help create the right attitude before you start.2. Find a comfortable seated position. This helps us to feel grounded and not get distracted by movement or feelings of discomfort. Try sitting cross-legged on the floor or on a chair with feet firmly on the floor, hands in lap.3. Keep your back straight. A lot of us tend to slump when we sit but keeping your spine straight and engaged can help us focus and stay aware. Try rolling your shoulders back before you begin.4. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Closing your eyes will help you to stop from being distracted by other objects in the room and by focusing on your breath coming in and out, our minds have something other than our thoughts to concentrate on.5. Start small. It’s not often that we sit still with nothing distracting us, so meditating can be hard when you first begin. Start with a five or 10-minute meditation and gradually build up to 15, 20 minutes or longer.6. Try a guided meditation. If you’re struggling to meditate on your own, try a meditation app like Headspace or Calm that will guide you through the process.Another way to help with meditation is to create a calming environment. Try diffusing our Tranquil Blend Essential Oil before you begin, to calm the mind and body and shop our full range of aromatherapy here.
Read more8 OVERNIGHT BEAUTY TIPS FROM A SKIN CARE SPECIALIST
You don’t have to go to a spa or a salon to keep your skin, hands and feet looking their best. There are a few at-home treatments you can do in the evening that will give your skin that extra bit of TLC when it needs it most and the best thing is, you can leave them to do their work while you sleep. We asked Jurlique Education Specialist Danielle for her top overnight beauty tips – pair them with an at-home spa day for even more indulgence.1. Create your own sleeping mask. Massage our Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cream Mask into your skin at night in the place of your normal night cream 2-3 times a week for a ‘sleeping mask’ treatment. This will help deeply moisturise dry and dehydrated skin.2. Indulge in a nourishing hand treatment. Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cream Mask can also be used on your hands. Massage a layer all over your hands and put on cotton gloves before going to bed for the ultimate softening treatment for dry, chapped hands. This is amazing to get hands ready for the big day for brides or a special occasion where your hands will be on show - or just to restore moisture after lots of washing and sanitising!3. Look after your feet. Exfoliate dry skin on your feet with a pedi paddle or body exfoliant, then rinse away. Massage a generous amount of a body lotion such as our Softening Rose Body Cream into feet and heels and pop on socks before hopping into bed. Massage any excess on hands into knees and elbows. Do this nightly until feet and heels are smooth and soft and then continue twice a week to maintain.4. Apply a face oil. Massage skin with Skin Balancing Face Oil after applying your serum and before night cream prior to bed to restore a soft healthy glow to your skin. Avoid going too close to the eye area. Use slow, relaxing, upwards strokes to release tension. This is best done the night before your hair washing days.Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil next to green plant 5. Use an oil for nourishing lip treatment. Apply a layer of Skin Balancing Face Oil on dry lips prior to applying your evening moisturiser all over the face and neck. Lips will feel nourished and moisturised upon waking, and it also helps your lipstick glide on in the morning.6. Apply Jojoba Oil to your hair. If you have dry hair and a sensitive scalp, massage Jojoba Carrier Oil deeply into your scalp and through hair concentrating on the ends, leaving it on overnight. Wrap your hair or place a hand towel on your pillow to protect it. Wash out in the morning with Lavender Shampoo and Conditioner for amazing shine and softness. Repeat twice a week.7. Hydrate your skin. If your skin is feeling dehydrated, apply a very fine layer of Moisture Plus Rare Rose Gel Cream over your serum and under your usual moisturiser at night. Continue for 7 days for an intense hydration booster, then return to your normal skin care ritual.Jurlique Moisture Plus Rare Rose Gel Cream on white linen napkin t 8. Treat your breakouts. As soon as you notice a breakout beginning, massage a small amount of Purifying Mask over the affected area/lesion only and leave on overnight. In the morning, the breakout will be far less noticeable and should dissipate sooner.

Essences have been at the core of Korean skincare routines forever. And now, the K-Beauty trend has made its way into shelves around the world. But what is an essence exactly, and how can it take your skin to the next level? We answer all your questions in our guide to skin care essences – and why they’re a staple in the Jurlique skin care ritual. What is an essence? An essence is a hybrid between a toner and a serum, hydrating and prepping the skin for the rest of your skin care ritual. They have a fluid, lightweight and almost watery texture, and have a low molecular weight which means they can penetrate the layers of the skin. You’ll know a good essence by the hydrating ingredients it contains – look for high concentrations of antioxidants and botanicals. The benefits of using an essenceSkin needs to be damp for skin care products to be absorbed. This is what an essence does – it hydrates and conditions the skin to prepare it for the serums, oils and moisturisers to follow. Not only that, but essences balance and nourish the skin after cleansing and toning. With regular use, you’ll soon be able to see the visible benefits, as essences revitalise the skin, and smooth and brighten the complexion. Are essences suitable for all skin types? In a word – yes. There are different types of skin essence, with some formulated for all skin types, and others that address specific skin concerns like dullness or uneven skin tone, but they’ll suit everyone. The lightweight texture of essences is ideal for oily skin, while their super-hydrating formulas make them especially beneficial for dry and dehydrated skin. Most people are susceptible to dry skin at some point, though, so essences should form a part of everyone’s skin care ritual. How to apply an essenceUse your essence morning and night, after your toning mist and before your serum. Pour a couple of drops into the palm of your hands (don’t use a cotton pad – it will waste the product and your hands are much more effective) and gently press into your face, neck and décolletage. Why we created the Activating Water EssenceOur Activating Water Essence is an essential part of our skin care ritual. It’s one of our must-have hero products thanks to it revitalising, softening and smoothing skin while continuously hydrating it. Essences are exploding in the skin care world – and for good reason. Essences are fluid formulas that hydrate and nourish the skin and prime it for serums (for an in-depth look into face essences, read our guide here. At Jurlique, we swear by our Activating Water Essence – it’s at the very heart of the Jurlique skin care ritual and is our secret to clear, smooth skin. Here are five reasons why you should start using it on the regular. It deeply hydrates the skinActivating Water Essence is formulated to continuously hydrate the skin. It contains emollients and high-performing botanical extracts to attract and hold water for a smoother, softer and healthier-looking complexion. In other words, it improves the skin’s barrier and activates its ability to retain moisture. When skin is hydrated, it can better protect itself, as well as absorb other skin care products more effectively. When we gave it to 52 women aged 25 to 50 to try for 14 days, 88% said their skin felt continuously hydrated. It makes your skin care work harderWant to get the most out of your skin care? As a hydration booster, Activating Water Essence could be the answer. It primes your skin and helps the skin care products you apply afterwards (namely, your serum and moisturiser) to penetrate into the layers of your skin. Think of your skin like a sponge. Anything you put on top of a dry sponge will just sit there, but a damp one will absorb it. Your skin is just the same.It smooths and softens the complexionThe lightweight formula of Activating Water Essence is infused with nutrients to smooth, soften and condition the skin. It features Marshmallow Root extract (which is super-hydrating and soothing), as well as botanicals grown on the Jurlique Farm – Calendula, Neem, Lavender, Rosemary, Horsetail, Witch Hazel, Nettle and Peach Leaf extract – that work together to activate and soothe the skin. Skin is left balanced, feeling revitalised and comfortable. It renews and revitalises the skinWith our skin exposed to (and battling) elements throughout the day, we need a little help to reenergise it. That’s where Activating Water Essence comes in – the inclusion of Peach Leaf extract in the formula adds radiance back to the skin. It also works to boost skin for a smoother, brighter and healthier-looking complexion (hello, smooth and glowing skin). It’s suitable for all skin typesSkin care for all skin types can be hard to find but Activating Water Essence ticks all the right boxes. Everyone goes through dry or dehydrated skin stages (we’ve got air conditioning, sun exposure and the general ageing process to thank for that) and thanks to Activating Water Essence having a lightweight and gentle formula, it’s ideal for all skin types – including oily skin. Use your Activating Water Essence morning and night after cleansing and toning, and before your serum. To apply, pour a couple of drops into your palms and press gently onto the face, neck and décolletage.Discover hydrated skin for yourself by shopping our Activating Water Essence here.
Read moreHOW TO GIVE YOURSELF A DIY AT-HOME FACIAL
Facials are usually seen as next-level self-care treats because it’s not every day you get to enjoy the decadence of going to a spa — relaxing in a steam room, having a professional esthetician work magic on your skin and even indulging in a (beauty sleep-inducing) full-body massage. It’s that one time where you purposefully block out some time for yourself to relax, unwind and rejuvenate. But why not extend the feeling in between your spa visits with a DIY at-home facial? Here’s our step-by-step guide to DIY at-home facials. WHAT IS A FACIAL? A facial is a skin-refining treatment typically given by a skin care specialist. Depending on the skin’s needs, facials often include steaming, cleansing, exfoliating, hydrating, correcting and pampering the skin. Adding a weekly DIY facial to your regular face skincare routine can help supercharge your routine and get you closer to achieving a clarified, glowing complexion. HOW TO DO A FACIAL AT HOME STEP-BY-STEP Indulge in the luxury of a spa-like experience from the comfort of your space with our step-by-step home facial for glowing skin. Grab your softest robe and a hair towel (if you have one), sit back and prepare for some pampering bliss. STEP 1: SET THE MOOD The vibe matters. How are you going to feel relaxed if your space isn’t making you feel calm? You can replicate those spa components by turning off the lights in your bathroom and lighting a few candles to invite some warm and cosy energy. Turn on some music that makes you feel tranquil, maybe some Sade or Enya? It’s important for your space to have the right scents too. Add a few drops of essential oil into a diffuser or bath — try our Relax Blend Essential Oil with Frankincense, Patchouli and Bergamot to promote a sense of balance. If you’re going to add an essential oil to your bath, be sure to combine it with a carrier oil like jojoba to protect your skin. And there you have it; you’ve created a spa sanctuary, and we haven’t even gotten to the facial step yet. STEP 2: STEAM YOUR SKIN Steaming your skin does wonders for softening your pores and loosening all that buildup in your skin. No sauna, no worries — immerse a face cloth into warm water and squeeze out the excess moisture before compressing the warm damp cloth over your face and neck. Add our Soaking Ritual Relaxing to water to help refresh your skin and uplift the senses. As you press the warm cloth to your face, take a mindful moment to relax and enjoy the aroma. STEP 3: CLEANSE Jurlique USA National Education Manager Paula Provenzano recommends double cleansing. The first cleanse thoroughly dissolves surface impurities such as dirt, oil and makeup, while the second cleanse “makes sure that you get every speck of dirt and makeup that may be on the surface of the skin,” says Paula. For the first cleanse, you’ll need an oil-based cleanser like our Nourishing Cleansing Oil. Massage the oil into dry skin with a circular motion, then emulsify with water and rinse. For the second cleanse, go in with your favourite cleansing gel, foam or lotion depending on your skin type. While you’re doing a double cleanse, it’s the perfect time to focus on those areas that maybe are a little neglected, Paula says. “The ears, the hairline, the neck (front and back) shoulders and décolleté.” STEP 4: MIST Mists are proven hydration boosters that also provide a blissful aromatherapy-like experience. To soothe your senses before and after exfoliation, we recommend our Lavender Hydrating Mist. Not only will it refresh and restore that natural glow to your skin, but it will also calm your skin and soothe your senses. Hot tip: Store in the refrigerator during warmer months for a refreshing treat. STEP 5: MASSAGE Massaging the skin is optional but worth it if you want to get the circulation going in your skin. Massaging the skin relaxes facial muscles, reduces puffiness and helps the products penetrate. Using a jade roller, a gua sha tool or your hands, massage your skin from the centre of your face to the perimeter, around to the hairline and down to the ears and neck. “By doing that, you’re working with the natural flow of lymph, so if you have a little puffiness around the eye area, it will help to get rid of that,” says Paula. STEP 6: MASK Paula says that masking is the centrepiece of facials. It offers intensive treatment for the skin and helps to address any skin problems from dryness, oiliness to irritation. You don’t have to pick only one mask either. You can multi-mask and apply specific masks to the areas that need it. Have sensitive skin on your cheeks? Apply a soothing mask to that area that’ll nurture and protect the skin. Is your skin looking dull and tired? STEP 7: MOISTURISE To kick off the moisturising step, prime and condition your skin with our Activating Water Essence+. It sets the stage for perfect penetration for all of your final treatment products, says Paula. Apply with a pressing and smoothing motion to prep the skin for serum. Your serum step always comes before eye cream and moisturiser and is a step you’d find during a professional facial. “It’s the real skin-correcting step that’s going to get in there and change and improve your skin,” says Paula. Finally, lock it all in with a moisturiser that works best for your skin type. Warm up the product in your hands to allow for smoother spreading, and remember to press in the moisturiser instead of rubbing it in. TRANSFORM HOMEMADE FACIALS INTO A FULL SPA EXPERIENCE After treating your skin to a rejuvenating spa facial at home, take a moment to pamper the rest of your body. Massage a nourishing eye care product, like our Herbal Recovery Eye Oil Roll-On, with a cooling ball applicator to awaken and nourish your delicate under-eye area. Your lips also deserve some TLC — apply a nourishing lip care product like our Rose Love Balm for soft, supple lips. Got time for even more “me time”? Treat yourself to pampering body care (if you didn’t already start with that). Try dry body brushing to exfoliate and stimulate blood flow. Then, follow with a soothing, oil-infused bath to calm your mind and soothe sore muscles. Finish with a rich body lotion or oil for soft, hydrated skin, not forgetting your hands and feet. Light a candle, pour some herbal tea or wine and sip away — you deserve it! For an extra boost, consider incorporating skin care tools like a jade roller or a gua sha tool in your face treatments at home. These can help relax facial muscles, reduce puffiness and help the products penetrate. How often should you get a facial? Skin care specialists recommend getting a facial every 4 weeks, but 5 to 6 is still great. Since your DIY facial home treatment doesn’t include extractions or invasive procedures, you can comfortably do one every week. If you can’t remember the last time you had a spa facial, now is the perfect time to book a pampering facial at Jurlique Spa. What are the 5 basic steps for a home facial? For a quick and easy at-home facial, start by steaming your face to open up your pores and soften any buildup in your skin. Follow with a double cleanse to remove dirt, oil and impurities. Then, gently exfoliate to remove dead surface cells and prep the skin for the next steps. Apply your favourite mask — whether a sheet mask, clay mask, gel mask, cream mask or peel-off mask. Finish with a moisturiser or facial oil and a soothing massage to relax your facial muscles and help the products soak in. What are the benefits of a home facial? A home facial offers plenty of benefits to your skin, including Clear skin — DIY facial steps often involve deep cleansing, which effectively removes any built-up oil, dirt or makeup that a daily cleanser may have missed. Intense Hydration — Facials are a great way to flood your skin with moisture using essences, serums, nourishing masks and moisturisers. Relaxation — Facial massages aren’t only relaxing and rejuvenating for the face but also the mind. Think of it as a mini-break to switch off and reconnect with your body in a deeply relaxed state. What not to do on a home facial? To prevent potential problems when having a home facial, avoid: DIY extractions — Yes, DIY extractions can be highly satisfying, but doing it wrong could lead to scarring or infection, so we recommend leaving this step to a professional. Using strong skincare products — If you’ve recently discovered a new product with ingredients you’ve never tried before, this may not be the best time to try it. Between steaming, double cleansing and exfoliating, your skin is already going through a lot
Read moreGUIDE TO MULTI-MASKING
We all know what face masks are. Slathering your face is one is a top-tier self-care moment. But why limit ourselves to applying just one when we can prolong that luxurious feeling while also combating different skin concerns by multi-masking?What is multi-masking?More often than not, your skin is doing different things in different areas. You could have oiliness in your t-zone, dehydration in your cheek area and dull skin everywhere else. Multi-masking is exactly as it sounds, it’s using different face masks in different areas of your face at the same time to target those specific concerns.Mask 1: Congested SkinUsually when your skin is congested, it tends to look tired and dull. You’ll find this happens around the t-zone area (forehead, nose and chin). Apply a mask that has a clay ingredient to that area. Our National Education Specialist, Lindsay Adam, says that Green Clay “assists with clearing out the skin of any impurities and breakouts in the t-zone area”. We recommend using our Intense Recovery Mask which is formulated with a base of naturally sourced Green Clay that absorbs impurities and rebalances. It also includes a blend of our farm grown botanical extracts, including Rose Gallica and Chamomile to help restore radiance to your skin once it has been decongested.Mask 2: Sensitive SkinSoothe any redness or irritation on your cheeks with a calming mask. If you have dry or sensitive cheeks, the last thing you’ll want to do is apply something that dries that area out. Our Nurturing Mask will do the trick! Enriched with nourishing plant-based oils including Shea Butter and Jojoba Seed Oil any signs of redness will be reduced leaving your skin feeling soothed and comforted.Mask 3: HydrationPlump and hydrated skin is always the goal. Once you’ve applied and rinsed off your purifying mask in your t-zone and calming mask on your cheeks, you’ll want to bring back moisture to your skin - something your skin will drink up right away. Apply our Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cream Mask to your entire face as an intensive overnight treatment. Made with Rose Oil and Shea Butter, it’ll help address visible signs of dehydration, brighten your skin and improve its overall texture. You’ll wake up with more supple and firm looking skin.Hot Tips:If you can’t hop into the shower to rinse off the masks, Lindsay recommends using a wet facial cloth. You know what your skin’s concerns are best, so before you multi-mask, take the time to figure out what each area really needs before applying. You don’t want to apply an astringent mask to your cheeks if they’re sensitive as it’ll exacerbate the problem. Same with applying hydrating products over congested skin – it’ll only make it worse.Don’t neglect your neck and the sides of our mouth. Apply your hydrating mask to this area fill out any lines and creases.Find multi-masking daunting? You can start with the basic and learn the benefits of using a face mask here.
Read more5 REASONS WHY YOUR SKIN IS ALWAYS DRY
You might be wondering, “Why is my skin so dry even when I moisturise?” Our answer to that is sometimes keeping moisture in the skin isn’t as easy as it sounds. You could be doing all the right steps and still experience skin dryness, flakiness and discomfort. In this case, it’s a good idea to take a closer look at what might actually be causing your skin to be dehydrated. Once you’ve figured out the underlying cause, it’s a lot easier to find a solution. From environmental aggressors to gaps in your skin care routine, read our guide to 5 common causes of dry skin.1. DehydrationHydrated skin starts from the inside out. If your skin is showing signs of dryness or dehydration, start by looking into your diet. You may not be drinking enough water – aim to drink at least 2L a day. You can also replenish your hydration levels by eating foods with a high-water content, like watermelon, strawberries, celery and iceberg lettuce which contains over ninety percent of water.2. Cold weatherNotice that when it’s winter, your skin becomes more prone to dryness? This is because when the weather gets cooler, lower temperatures coupled with high winds strip your skin of moisture and leave it feeling tight and dry. Keep your skin moisturised with a thicker product to create a protective barrier over the skin. A rich moisturising cream like our Moisture Plus Rare Rose Cream is clinically proven to deliver 24h hydration and is made with Jurlique Rose Extract and Cupuaçu Butter to deeply nourish and restore much-needed moisture.3. Dry airAnother environmental aggressor you need to look out for is dry air. You’re more likely to experience dry air in warmer climates and in spaces with air conditioning. Dry air strips your skin of moisture at a faster rate than normal. To combat this, keep the surface of your skin supple by using a hydrating mist. Our Rosewater Balancing Mist instantly hydrates, refreshes the skin and supports moisture balance. Keep a bottle by your desk or in your bag to easily spritz your skin whenever it’s feeling parched.4. Unbalanced skin pHOur skin’s ability to ward off the effects of environmental stressors is determined by something called a pH level. How acidic or alkaline your skin is can drastically affect your hydration levels. If you’re experiencing dryness, chances are your skin has high pH and is too alkaline – you need to balance out your pH levels, so your skin is able to protect itself more effectively. There are many causes of alkalinity, but common causes include over exfoliating and overuse of masks. So, try and reduce exfoliating to once a week or two.5. Harsh ChemicalsNot all skin care products are created equally. Products that use synthetic ingredients can be harsh on the skin and strip away your skin’s natural oils. Take a closer look at your skin care ritual and get rid of the products that deplete your skin of moisture. A good way to figure this out is seeing if your skin feels tight or dry after use. We recommend using our Replenishing Cleansing Lotion to cleanse your skin morning and evening. Formulated with Marshmallow Root and Calendula Extracts, it calms and conditions dry skin while replenishing and protecting it. Follow up with Activating Water Essence after cleansing and before your serum/moisturiser step to activate your skin’s ability to retain moisture and also help the moisturising products you use afterwards to sink in.
