WHERE HEALTHY SKIN MEETS A HAPPY MIND WITH JULIA BUSUTTIL NISHIMURA

WHERE HEALTHY SKIN MEETS A HAPPY MIND WITH JULIA BUSUTTIL NISHIMURA

As pioneers in wellbeing, at Jurlique we’ve always believed that the healing and uplifting powers of Nature have a great part to play. The self-care phenomenon is more than a trend and here to stay so there’s never been a better time to get to know yourself and body more. For cookbook author & food writer, Julia Busuttil Nishimura, our Softening Shower Gel Rose and Softening Body Lotion Rose is her go-to for a botanicals rich, replenishing ritual that nourishes the body and mind. Being a busy mother of two, finding a few mindful moments in the day for herself is a necessity. We had a chat with Julia and spoke about how she cultivates small rituals throughout her busy day to keep her rejuvenated and relaxed. What does your body skin care ritual consist of? I have a very simple skincare routine. Usually, shower gel in the shower and I exfoliate once or twice a week, then moisturiser every day. It’s not much but it feels nice to do those things for myself. I make sure I shut the bathroom door so I can have some time to myself undisturbed, that feels really important to me. What's your connection between body skin care and self-care? I don’t have many minutes to myself in a day, with a newborn and a pre-schooler, often taking care of myself is the last thing I have time to do. However, just carving out a little time in the day to attend to my own needs is really important. When my skin feels good, I feel really comfortable and confident and happy that I’ve invested a little time for myself. Do you have a body skin care step that you swear by? Once a month I try and set aside an extended time for myself to create my own “spa day”. I light candles, diffuse some essential oils, listen to music, put on a face mask and take a bath. While it’s important for me to keep up my daily skin care, this monthly ritual is so rejuvenating and restorative and really tops me up. It’s something that I make sure I do regularly. Do you have any body skin care tips for new mums? We spend so much time in bed in the early days. Whether trying to feed or sleep it feels like our bed is our second home. I like to keep my body skin care products on my bedside table for easy access and a strong reminder to use them. Try and set aside time for yourself, even just a few minutes a day will feel wonderful. How do you fit in Jurlique Body Care products into your body skin care ritual? I only use shower gels and moisturisers that don’t contain any harsh chemicals as I find they strip my skin from their natural oils. That’s why I love using Jurlique products. I especially love the scent which feels very luxurious and calming in the shower. Shop Julia’s cookbook Ostro on her website Unearth a natural remedy for every body. Our aromatic selection of Shower Gels and Body Lotions are enriched with the restorative powers of Nature.

THE BENEFITS OF AROMATHERAPY

THE BENEFITS OF AROMATHERAPY

Aromatherapy has been at the heart of Jurlique from the very beginning. Since 1985, our founders Ulrike and Jurgen Klein sought to unlock the healing and transformative powers of Nature to cultivate radiant, healthy looking skin by “understanding the importance of the soul of the plant which is essential oil”, and we’ve been keeping that commitment to purity 35 years on. What is aromatherapy? Simply put, aromatherapy is the therapeutic and healing use of natural aromatic substances such as herbs, spices, plants and essential oils to strengthen one’s physical and psychological wellbeing or in other words, mind, body and soul. Dating back as far as 5000 years ago, we can find the use of aromatics in ancient Ayurveda medicinal practices, ancient Egyptian skin care rituals and ancient Roman celebrations and ceremonies. While aromatics have been used for medicinal purpose for thousands of years, it was only until the late 1920s when the term ‘aromatherapy’ was coined by French chemist, René-Maurice Gattefossé. He had accidentally burnt his hand and as a reaction doused his hand into a nearby vat of Lavender oil – the burn healed quickly and left no scar, compelling him to study aromatics. Benefits of Aromatherapy for Mind Although inhalation of essential oils isn’t the only way to use aromatherapy, it is one of the most common forms, especially when comes to positively affecting the mind. Our ability to smell comes from specialised sensory cells that are directly connected to the brain. This is why certain smells trigger certain feelings. One smell might trigger a memory, another might trigger a feeling of calmness, one smell might even trigger hunger. So, when it comes to essential oils, they have the power to relax, energise and stimulate the mind through their scents/aroma. Lavender Essential Oil One of the most popular aromatherapy oils, Lavender, has a calming effect when used in aromatherapy. Its key benefits are to calm and relax the mind and senses. Add a few drops of Lavender Pure Essential Oil to a diffuser or vaporiser to soothe the mind and promote sleep. If you’re on the go, our Lavender Hydrating Mist will do the trick. A few spritzes and the calming scent will instantly soothe your mind. Lemon Essential Oil Lemon Oil has the power to re-energise and enliven the mind. Our Revitalising Blend Essential Oil features the pure natural essential oils of Lemon, Orange and Bergamot for a revitalising effect on the senses and promotes a sense of alertness. Adding it to your diffuser or oil burner will create a restorative environment for your mind. Pro tip: If you don’t have an oil burner, diffuser or vaporiser handy you can dot essential oils onto your pulse points or add to a warm bath of water to ease tension. But remember to never apply the essential oils to your skin directly. Due to their potency, it can cause significant skin irritation – instead dilute with a carrier like Jojoba Carrier Oil, then apply. Benefits of Aromatherapy for Skin Care In addition to the mood-boosting benefits of essential oils in aromatherapy, they’re also rich with natural antioxidants and antimicrobial properties that enhance and protect your skin. With their ability to soothe, hydrate, restore and improve radiance for an overall enhancement in skin wellness and glow - at Jurlique we make sure get every bit of into our skin care products. By using our exclusive Bio-Intrinsic™ process, we ensure the whole life of the plant is being used, to deliver an undiluted force of Nature to your skin. Rose Extract There are so many reasons why you should use rose-infused skin care products. Rose, known as the ‘Queen of Flowers’ and rightfully so, is packed with loads of skin-loving goodness. Its hydrating properties improve skin barrier function and help to retain essential moisture levels for smooth and radiant looking skin. You get the best of both with Rose as it is both beneficial for your skin and known to have a positive effect on your mood. A key part of any aromatherapy practice, the delicate scent of Rose defuses stress and calms. Start your day with our powerfully nourishing Softening Shower Gel Rose and Softening Body Lotion Rose to provide nurturing comfort, hydration and protection for your body. Peppermint Leaf Extract Peppermint is known for its refreshing aroma. Grown, harvested and extracted at our biodynamic* Jurlique Farm, pure Peppermint Leaf Extract helps soothe and protect the skin. Dotted in many of our products, the use of the extract in our Revitalising Cleansing Gel helps to restore and revitalise dull skin and improve uneven texture for younger-looking skin. Calendula Flower Extract Derived from the bright yellow and orange flowers of the Calendula flower, it has pronounced soothing properties and is used to rebalance sensitivity on the skin and throughout the body. Our Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturising Cream is sensitive skin’s best friend. Its rich texture hydrates, comforts and protects delicate skin. Combined with the key ingredient of Calendula Flower Extract, its antioxidants promise intense soothing properties. You’ll also find Calendula in almost all of our products, keeping your skin forever soothed and calm. YOUR 6 MOST COMMON SKIN CARE QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

YOUR 6 MOST COMMON SKIN CARE QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Skin care can sometimes be…confusing. With the rise of beauty blogs, influencers and online media, finding information about what skin care products to use, when to use them and how to use them, is easier than ever before. But notice how that advice can be conflicting (not to mention overwhelming?) Sometimes you need input from the pros, so we enlisted our Education Team and asked them to answer some of your most common skin care questions on everything from skin concerns to how use to a certain product. When should I use a hydrating mist? Our Face Mists can be used as part of your skin care ritual, after cleansing. A few spritzes of mist helps close the pores, refresh skin and prime your face for the next step in your ritual, while delivering nutrients and moisture to the top layers of the skin. They can also be used throughout the day, whenever you need a hit of fresh, lightweight moisture. Take them on the go and give yourself a spritz whenever you’re in need of freshening up, or some extra hydration. Read our guide to Face Mists to find out more. How can I reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines? Ageing is inevitable in all of us and can be most noticeable in our skin. Prevention is always better than cure: always wear a sunscreen with SPF 50 and start incorporating anti-ageing products into your skin care ritual as soon as possible. If you’re noticing the early signs of ageing, use a targeted serum such as our Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum which helps soften the appearance of fine lines, followed by Herbal Recovery Cream. For more advanced signs of ageing, our Nutri-Define range has a powerful formula that helps improve the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles to improve skin for a firmer, more resilient complexion. How can I erase dark spots and scars from old blemishes? The best way you can reduce the appearance of dark spots and marks from blemishes is through regular exfoliation. Exfoliating the skin promotes cell and collagen renewal which in turn can fade the appearance of any spots and scars.  How can I correct uneven skin tone? Brightening skin care products, like those in our Brightening range, can reduce the appearance of dark spots and improve skin texture to create a more even skin tone. For best results, use a cleanser with a gentle exfoliant to refine surface texture and follow with a brightening mist. What is Marshmallow Root and how does it work? Marshmallow Root is the root of the Marshmallow plant, or to give its botanical name, Althaea officinalis. The root has been used to treat wounds and nourish skin for centuries. Mucilage, a syrup-like liquid found in the root, attracts and retains moisture and provides a barrier that prevents this moisture from escaping. It’s this quality that makes it the ideal active ingredient in a number of intensely hydrating Jurlique products – in fact, it’s the hero ingredient in our essential skin care product, Activating Water Essence+.

THE TRUTH ABOUT WATER IN SKIN CARE PRODUCTS

THE TRUTH ABOUT WATER IN SKIN CARE PRODUCTS

Water in skin care products…how effective can it really be? You might get a few sceptical looks when using water-based skin care products, or maybe you’re sceptical yourself. Surely water dilutes the active ingredients, making them less effective? If you’ve ever looked at the ingredients list of our natural-based skin care products, you’ve probably noticed that ‘water’ is included in most of them – and that our Mists and Activating Water Essence are both water-based. And it’s with good reason. Water actually enhances the active ingredients in skin care products, making them even more effective. Here’s everything you need to know about water-based skin care, and how to incorporate it into your skin care ritual. What is water-based skin care? Water-based skin care is any product – cleanser, moisturiser, essence, serum or mist – that uses water as its base ingredient, rather than oil. What are the benefits of water-based skin care?1. They’re deeply hydrating. Skin absorbs water faster than it does oil. Products with a water base can penetrate skin more deeply than those that are oil-based and do so without disrupting the skin’s natural moisture barrier. Our bodies are about 60% water, so by adding more water into our rituals, we’re helping to hydrate our skin and maintain optimal cellular functioning.2. They’re suitable for most skin types. Depending on what other ingredients are included in the formula, water-based products can be used on most skin types. Our Mists and Activating Water Essence have gentle formulas, which means they can be used on dry, oily and combination skin without causing irritation.3. They’re non-comedogenic. Most water-based products are lightweight so won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts. When should I apply water-based products? The general rule of thumb for applying skin care products is to go from thinnest to thickest, so water-based products should be used towards the beginning or your ritual. After cleansing, spritz two-three pumps of Mist onto your face, followed by pressing two-three drops of Activating Water Essence onto your face, neck and décolletage before applying your serum, eye care and moisturiser.Add high-performing water to your skin care ritual with Activating Water Essence and find out more with our guide to face essences.

5 UNEXPECTED WAYS TO USE FACE MISTS

5 UNEXPECTED WAYS TO USE FACE MISTS

At Jurlique, we love a good face mist. Our Rosewater Balancing Mist, packed with the extract of our exclusive Jurlique Rose, has been one of our most popular products for years, and our range of mists has gained a loyal following of beauty enthusiasts the world over. As the post-cleanse step, our face mists are known for their hydrating and soothing properties and are a skin care ritual essential. But did you know that our Mists do more than hydrate the skin and can also be used throughout the day, outside of your skin care ritual? Read on for five unexpected ways to use a facial mist. Refreshing makeup Yes, our Mists can be used over your makeup without smudging it or causing it to run. If your foundation and concealer tend to look dry or flaky towards the end of the day, or you want a dewy look, spritz a hydrating Mist onto your face throughout the day. By giving your skin this moisture boost, you’ll prevent it (and your makeup) from drying out, helping to keep it looking fresh for as long as you need it to. Enhancing makeup pigments Speaking of makeup, lightly spraying your makeup brushes and sponges with your favourite facial spray can help deepen the pigments of products such as eyeshadow, blush and highlighting powders. This technique helps to enhance the drama and vibrancy of your look and can reduce the amount of product you need to use. Cooling the skin During summer on hot, humid days, or winter, if you’re exposed to a lot of central heating, our skin can sometimes feel like it needs a bit of cooling down. Use your face mist throughout the day to refresh and cool it. It will help soothe your skin upon contact and have a fresh, cooling effect as it evaporates. Controlling shine A face mist might not be the first product you think of when you want to control shine. But oiliness and shine can be byproducts of your skin overcompensating for dehydration by producing excess oil. Hydrating facial mists can help regulate oil production, as they prevent moisture loss and support the skin’s natural protective moisture barrier. If you have oily or blemish-prone skin, applying a face mist can help balance the skin and keep excess shine at bay.

THE BEST NIGHT TIME SKIN CARE ROUTINE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES

THE BEST NIGHT TIME SKIN CARE ROUTINE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES

With a build-up of dirt throughout the day as well as exposure to pollution and daily aggressors, night time is probably the most important time to look after your skin. Skin repairs overnight - during sleep your skin’s circulation and blood flow increases and it will rebuild collagen and renew itself as much as possible - so it’s important to add hardworking products to your evening routine. For the best results, use products that are tailored to your skin concern - that way, you can give your skin the best chance to repair and rejuvenate while you sleep. Discover our nighttime skin care steps for every skin type below. Why you should use different skin care products at night Skin care isn’t one size fits all, and the same goes for using products for daytime vs nighttime. Our Victorian State Manager, Charlotte Lyon, says: “During the day our ritual is all about preparing for the day ahead and protecting our skin against moisture loss and environmental aggressors. Whereas at night it is all about recovering the skin from the day past and harnessing the power of natural botanicals to treat skin concerns and boost radiance in the skin. Double cleansing is a must at night and ensuring that you use serums and moisturisers that focus on optimal absorption to the skin, without creating too much of a barrier.” How to look after your skin at night 1. Cleanse Your skin goes through a lot during the day (makeup, sweat, pollution…the list is endless), so night time is the perfect time to give your face a deep clean. Look for a cleanser with a cream or gel base for an effective clean. 2. Apply a serum Thanks to their lightweight formulas that target specific skin care concerns, serums are an essential part of every ritual, plus they give your skin a much-needed boost of hydration. 3. Moisturise Moisturisers lock in hydration and act as a protective layer on your skin. At night, use a richer formula than you would during the day, that will nourish your skin while you sleep. 4. Apply an eye cream The skin around the eyes is delicate and prone to dryness. It’s also one of the first areas to show signs of ageing, so a nourishing eye cream or gel is important. What products to use for your skin concern Focus on rich, nourishing formulas and targeted treatments. The first step is identifying your skin type: do you have normal, dry, oily or combination skin? If you’re not sure, read our guide to understanding your skin type, then choose specially formulated products that address your skin care concerns too (Is your dry skin congested? Or is anti-ageing a big concern alongside oiliness?) Anti-ageing Skin with visible signs of ageing needs specially formulated products that work to help support collagen and elastin, which give skin its flexibility. For an anti-ageing skin care routine, or to combat the signs of fine lines and wrinkles, we recommend using Nutri-Define Supreme Cleansing Foam, Activating Water Essence+ and Nutri-Define Supreme Rejuvenating Serum, followed by Nutri-Define Supreme Restorative Rich Cream, which is our best night cream for ageing skin. Our Education Manager Charlotte says “as a booster during the week, or for particularly parched skin, add 1-2 drops of the Purely Age Defying Firming Face Oil to your moisturiser to help with elasticity and suppleness. Don’t forget to extend Serums/Creams/Oils to face, neck and décolletage.” Dry skin and hydration Dry skin can look dull and feel tight, dehydrated and rough to touch, so needs skin care products that will lock in hydration. Double cleanse skin first with either Replenishing Cleansing Lotion or Nourishing Cleansing Oil. Follow with our Activating Water Essence+, which is a great hydration booster for skin, and Rare Rose Serum and Cream, which have been clinically proven* to provide 24 hour hydration. Sensitivity  Sensitive skin is easily irritated and prone to drying. It’s important to use specially formulated natural products that restore the skin’s protective barrier and calm and rebalance skin. Thoroughly remove the day using Replenishing Cleansing Lotion twice. The double cleanse will ensure any oils, bacteria or impurities that could exacerbate skin irritation - ensure to use lukewarm or tepid water. We recommend using our Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturising Cream, Calendula Redness Rescue Restorative Treatment Serum and Nurturing Mask to look after your skin at night. Oil and blemish control  If oiliness and blemishes are your biggest concern, treat your skin to our Revitalising Cleansing Gel, which cleanses makeup, oil and impurities in one single step. Charlotte recommends misting with “Sweet Violet & Grapefruit Mist for immediate moisture and then use Activating Water Essence+ for continuous hydration. The lightweight, water-packed formulation is well loved by oily skin.” For a moisturiser, opt for our Rare Rose Lotion, which is lightweight and non-comedogenic. Puffiness and dark circles  Our Nutri-Define Supreme Eye Contour Balm is our best eye cream for lines and puffiness. It uses Snowflake Bulb extract to help restore luminosity, while Alfalfa seed and lupine protein target the appearance of under-eye puffiness. Apply with the metal ball applicator included with the Eye Contour Balm, which helps to smooth, cool and depuff the eye area by aiding lymphatic drainage and promoting optimal absorption of the eye balm itself.   FAQs What should a night skin care routine be? A simple night skin care routine should start with a double cleanse to thoroughly remove the day's impurities. Next, apply a serum tailored to your skin's concerns, followed by a rich night cream to hydrate and replenish your skin while you sleep. Gently pat on an eye cream around your delicate eye area to minimise dark circles and puffiness, and finish by applying a nourishing lip balm or treatment for soft, supple lips. What is good to apply on the face at night? At night, your skin shifts into repair mode, and this peaks while you sleep. Nighttime is the best time to address specific skin concerns like dullness, blemishes, dark circles or those elusive fine lines with targeted treatments. Follow with a rich, nourishing moisturiser to lock in maximum hydration. Remember to apply products from thinnest to thickest consistency for optimal absorption. What is the best serum for a night skincare routine? Our Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum is a best-seller for a reason. Infused with Holy Basil, known as the “elixir of life", Iris root, Echinacea, Black Elderflower and potent antioxidants, this high-performing blend re-energises the skin for a smoother, softer and revitalised look. WHAT ARE NATURAL ACTIVES IN SKIN CARE?

WHAT ARE NATURAL ACTIVES IN SKIN CARE?

If you’re a fan of skin care, chances are you’ve heard of retinol, ceramides and all kinds of acids…but knowing what they are, what they do and why you need them (beyond them sounding like something you’d hear in a chemistry lesson) is another thing entirely. These are the ‘actives’ that you’ll find in skin care products: the ingredient that has been scientifically proven to address the skin concern it’s meant to target. Inactive ingredients are important too, as they tend to be the ingredients that help deliver the active to your skin, such as water, or have cleansing or moisturising properties. At Jurlique, our products are natural based, which means our actives are too. Here are five natural actives you should look for.Rock Samphire ExtractAlso known as Sea Fennel or Crithmum maritimum extract, this natural marine extract has been nicknamed the ‘Retinol of the Sea’ for its ability to help firm the skin and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Skin care experts recommend retinol for skin thanks to its ability to aid skin cell turnover and boost collagen production. Rock Samphire extract can be found in Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil and Calendula Redness Rescue Mist.Willow Bark ExtractWillow Bark extract – or Salix nigra extract – is high in salicin, a natural salicylic acid which helps skin cell turnover by exfoliating the skin, as well as dissolve dirt and impurities which may clog pores. Willow Bark extract is also high in tannins, phenolic acids and flavonoids, which help reduce the signs of ageing and keep skin looking firm. Find it in Purely Age-Defying Refining Treatment, Purity Specialist Treatment Mask and Radiant Skin Foaming Cleanser.Cassia angustifolia Seed PolysaccharideAlso known as Senna Seed Polysaccharide, this natural active is a plant-derived form of hyaluronic acid, which is considered a powerhouse in skin care. The benefits of hyaluronic acid include its ability to keep skin moisturised, as well as improving skin elasticity. It occurs naturally in the body but like collagen and elastin, it decreases as we get older. The extract from these seeds forms a protective film on the skin that strongly binds water to provide intense moisturisation and reduce the signs of fine lines and wrinkles. Skin feels smoother and looks plumper. Find Cassia angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide in our Moisture Plus Rare Rose range.Tremella fuciformis PolysaccharideThis rare extract is considered nature’s hyaluronic acid, holding up to 500 times its own weight of water and creating a natural, flexible film that restores dry skin to is optimal hydrated state, improving skin elasticity and promoting a healthy appearance. Tremella fuciformis is also known as ‘snow mushroom’ and looks like a white gelatinous flower. Find it in Nutri-Define Supreme Rejuvenating Serum.Red Clover Flower ExtractRed Clover Flowers are grown on the Jurlique Farm and its extract has been scientifically proven to enhance the hydrating role of hyaluronic acid and smooth out the appearance of lines and wrinkles in our Herbal Recovery Signature Serum. You’ll also find Red Clover extract (or Trifolium pratense extract) in Purely Age-Defying Refining Treatment.

7 TIPS FOR CARING FOR YOUR SKIN WHILE WEARING A FACE MASK

7 TIPS FOR CARING FOR YOUR SKIN WHILE WEARING A FACE MASK

It’s safe to say that our lives have changed a lot in 2020. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has seen most people around the world endure lockdown measures, a new way of living and working from home. The way we interact with others has changed and day to day life has a very different lens – and face masks (no, not the skin care kind) are being worn on the regular, with medical experts stressing their importance to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. But with that can come negative effects for your skin, with some people experiencing problems such as breakouts – or ‘maskne’ - rashes and itchiness from wearing a mask. We spoke to our Education Manager Charlotte Lyon to get her top tips for looking after your skin while wearing a face mask. Why does wearing a face mask affect your skin?Firstly: why the new skin problems? Surely, we’ve all been through enough? According to dermatologist Dr. Adeline Kikam, friction from the mask rubbing can cause irritant contact dermatitis, and a build up of moisture from the air inside the mask can cause breakouts – not to mention the dirt and makeup that can get trapped underneath. How to prevent skin problems when wearing a face maskThe good news is, you can minimise those skin problems and keep your skin looking and feeling healthy while wearing a protective face mask. Here are our seven top tips:1. Avoid wearing makeupWearing makeup underneath your face mask is a bit like sleeping with your makeup on – it can clog the pores and cause those unwanted blemishes. Embrace natural and avoid wearing makeup where you can, opting instead for a hydrating skin care routine. If makeup is necessary, stick to the eye area only.2. Use a gentle cleanserCleansing is always important to get rid of any dirt, impurities and unblocked pores – which is more likely while wearing a mask. Cleanse your skin morning and night using a gentle cleanser that’s suitable for sensitive skin, such as our Replenishing Cleansing Lotion.3. Stay hydratedCharlotte tells us hydrated skin is important for preventing skin problems while wearing a mask. “Ensure to increase hydration levels of the skin using Activating Water Essence,” she says. “Our Hydrating Mists can be carried and used throughout the day, when able, to also help with dehydration.”4. Use a richer moisturiser“Dry skin is a common problem in winter and can be made worse by wearing a face mask,” says Charlotte. If you feel as though you’re not receiving enough nourishment from your regular moisturiser, switch to a richer formula, or add a couple of drops of face oil to your regular cream or lotion. For very dry skin, Moisture Replenishing Day Cream is a great option to provide a superior barrier to the skin.5. Reduce redness with soothing skin care productsSensitivity and redness can be a common side effect of wearing a mask, due to the mask rubbing on the skin. Try introducing soothing and calming products into your skin care ritual, such as those in our Calendula Redness Rescue range. Calendula Cream can be used topically for affected areas to help protect and comfort.6. Protect your lipsAs well as your skin, your lips can become dry and chapped when wearing a face mask regularly. Treat and protect the lip area by applying Lip Care Balm or Rose Love Balm throughout the day (using clean fingers!)7. Choose a face mask with natural fabricsNot all face masks are created equally. “Avoid synthetic fabrics, such as nylon, polyester and rayon,” says Charlotte. “These are more likely to irritate skin and cause breakouts.” Instead, choose a face mask that’s made from a natural and breathable fabric, such as cotton, and wash it with a fragrance-free, hypoallergenic laundry detergent. With a nourishing and hydrating skin care ritual, you should be able to minimise the problems that come with wearing a face mask. Keep your hands protected too, with a moisturising hand sanitiser and read our top tips for caring for your hands.
